Getting the right tools: Crown HD Makeup Brushes

You can have the most expensive makeup collection in the world, but if you're not using the right tools to apply it then it may has well have come from a dodgy market stall. The key to achieving a flawless and structured look is to have the brushes and tools that allow you to work effectively with the formulas. I never use the applicators you get with makeup palettes or compacts, because even the most premium brands are putting their expertise and budget into the eyeshadow/foundation/blusher - not the brush they provide you to apply it with. It's well worth investing a little more in some decent and hard working brushes that can not only make application much easier, but help to keep it in the desired place for longer. I've been using their 7 piece HD set which contains pretty much all the brushes I need for my daily makeup routine - powder, blush, foundation, eyeshadow and blending brushes. Initially I spent about two weeks refusing to use them because they were just so fluffy and fun to brush over my face in a tickling fashion, but eventually I gave in an actually dipped them in some makeup. These are possibly the lightest and most delicate brushes I've ever used, almost feeling like feathers on the skin, but they actually pack a punch when you use them. I find that lighter brushes are often harder to use, but these provide the best of both worlds - they pick up enough product without overloading the brush, but also delicately apply it to skin to create a really natural finish. Some of my other brushes have been too thick and chunky to use with stronger shades of blush, preventing me from really using brands like Illamasqua regularly; these Crown brushes are perfect for blending a strong colour in a really subtle way. I'm adoring using the eyeshadow brushes too, as they allow you to blend eyeshadow perfectly and create much more precise looks than I've otherwise been able to (even with a minimal amount of pigment on the bristles.) The case also contains a spatula, mixing tray and patent case, so for £29.99 you're getting a really good deal: I've spent more than that on Sephora brushes that have malted all over my face. You can buy everything from an individual brush (starting at £6.09), to a full on set of over 20 brushes (for £122.99) so there's definitely something for everyone - whether you're a makeup lover, amateur enthusiast or professional makeup artist. Money well spent in my opinion!
