Three Bathtime Potions For Cosy Winter Nights In

Seeing as the last two days have seen non-stop downpours and apocalyptic style scenes from my office window, it's no surprise I've chosen to spend my time wrapped up in blankets with an endless supply of hot drinks. Suddenly we seem to be in the midst of a new season, and with colder days and darker nights comes the need for a long soak in an appropriately scented bath. Although bath bombs, oils and salts are all very lovely, there's something just a little bit comforting about stepping into a bubble bath and fluffing the white stuff around you. The cocooning sensation is incredibly special, especially when surrounded by flickering candlelight, so a sweet scented bath potion or luxurious milk can only enhance the experience - here are three of my current favourites.

1. Philosophy Pumpkin Icing Bubble Bath (£14.00)
Oh my goodness, there are no words to describe how delicious this smells - but I'll try. If you've ever wondered what an iced pumpkin pie smells like, then this is it. Comforting, sweet without being sickly, uplifting and totally reminiscent of Christmas; this is like candy dreams in a bottle. I love the scents that Philosophy concoct, especially in the lead up to the festive season, and this doesn't disappoint on any level. If you've ever wanted to bathe in Willy Wonka's factory, this is the closest you'll probably get to it.

2. Elemis Jasmine & Rose Milk Bath (£42.00)
Ok, I know this is ridiculously expensive for essentially a bubble bath, but the creaminess the milk provides is second to none - as is the delicate rose scent that reminds me of Turkish Delight and nights round the fireplace. What's even better is that this is a skin treatment too; created with lavish Jasmine and White Lotus Flower to soften and nourish the skin, whilst Argan Oil and vitamin E work to improve hydration, this bath cream will give you rich, supple skin all over. Used sparingly, this will last you for months on end too; I must've had this since last winter and it's still half full.

3. L'Occitane Relaxing Foaming Bath (£20.00)
If you have trouble switching off, relaxing or getting in the mood for sleep, this could be the helping hand you need. It contains lavender and rosemary essential oils for a soothing experience that melts your cares away; lavender also possesses astringent, antiseptic and relaxing properties while rosemary offers antiseptic, antioxidant and purifying properties. It provides the most awesome lather too, giving you a real pampering experience that's great before slipping into your PJs and making a cup of herbal tea.
