NEW From Ciate London: The Beach House Nail Collection

Every season Ciate continue to pull out the big guns when it comes to their nail varnish. The 'Doll's House' collection (launched earlier this year,) was so popular that they've stuck with a similar format for summer, launching their bright and breezy 'Beach House' collection of colour. Housed in a cute little hut, complete with pigeon and beach ball, the set contains five colours that individually tap into the key trends for the season. Including a pastel pink, minty green, burnt orange, fuschia pink and glittery gold, the collection is certainly diverse.

Unlike previous launches which always have an obvious theme linking the shades together, the Beach House collection seems to have a confusing story behind it. I associate beach huts with ice cream and sandcastles, which in turn says to me pastels and summery yellows. However, this mini collection of paint pots isn't exactly cohesive - there's a significant lack of story. It definitely feels like Ciate have, on this occasion, chucked in five popular shades and hoped they could sew them all together with a loose story.

I can only assume the pastel shades represent the ice cream, the glittery gold the sand and the tropical brights the colour of hawaiian shirts, but together it looks a bit of a mess. Individually the shades are all very wearable, but when brought together it leaves me somewhat disappointed. With the pastel trend so huge for summer, I can't help but wonder why they didn't pick five great ice cream shades and get us in the mood for the beach.

Although I'm a fan of the mini Paint Pots (they provide a great finish and add much needed fun into every nail polish collection,) and the design of the fabulous Beach House box, what's inside doesn't live up to my expectations. If you're new to Ciate or are just looking to expand your nail varnish range, then this could be a great addition to your collection. However, if you're an avid fan of Ciate and regularly purchase their limited edition sets, this could be one to pass.

The Ciate 'Beach House' Collection launches in June priced £18.00.
