Creating the perfect smokey eye, delicate line of colour or perfect cat flick was always a pipedream. I never had the tools or the expertise to create something other than a messy fuzz of colour around my lash line, until I started to take the art form seriously. After trying endless eyeliners (covering all price points and benefits,) I've finally narrowed my essential collection down to just three - all of which provide something a little different, but 100% can be relied upon day in and day out. These are my current favourite eyeliners and the reasons they'll change your (eye) life.

1. Urban Decay All Nighter Eyeliner (£15.00)
If you're after jet black colour, a super soft formula and ultra staying power, then this is your holy grail of eyeliners. Like their award-winning 24/7 Eye Pencils, the creamy formula glides on smoothly but won't smudge or budge once it dried. It's even waterproof, ensuring it stays put even when you're suffering with hayfever. Its precision tip ensures it's easy to create subtle lines or powerful looks, while the twist end ensures there's no faffing with sharpeners.
2. Eyeko London Skinny Liquid Eyeliner (£12.00)
Until I discovered this, 60's cat flicks were something I could only dream of. Eyeko's Skinny Liner makes creating them easy, thanks to the ultra precise nib which allows you to delicately draw and build up the look around the eye. The colour is seriously black too, while the result is long-lasting and smudge proof. I can be confident that my cat flicks stay put from 8am to 8pm every day.
3. Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner (£18.00)
This is slightly softer thanks to its gel base, but great at creating effortless 'Kate Middleton' inspired liner. My favourite is the Sapphire shade, a rich jeweled navy blue which helps to bring out the colour of my eyes while creating a more subtle result. It's not bright blue (in fact, you can only see it's blue upon close inspection!) but it creates a slightly more sophisticated look, while staying in place all day long.
These three are without a doubt my current favourites. Have you tried them? Do you have any other eyeliners that you can't live without?
