It's too easy to become a walking, talking glitter ball during December, so it's somewhat refreshing to see Seventeen Cosmetics taking a rather more 'rock n roll' approach to their Christmas collection. Adorned with yellow paint splatters and simply called 'Deconstructed,' the limited edition trio of products available in store now includes a suede nail paint, nail studs and black lacquer eyeliner. The nail paint provides a surprising matte result that's speckled with subtle golden flecks; it dries pretty much instantaneously, making it a great polish to use when you've run out of time and can't afford extra minutes required to perfect your paint. I love the result, especially when a couple of nail studs are added for extra punch.
The little tub of silver triangles is bursting with potential, although you do have to attach them with nail glue or be sure to apply when the nail is wet and layer a top coat around the base. Although the nail polish provides a great result, the longevity of the paint is limited: it only lasts for a day before serious chips and flakes start to appear. However, from previous experience I know that matte polishes have a tendency to flake off really easily, despite a topcoat being applied.
The eyeliner (or Lash Lacquer!) includes a high precision brush which is perfect for creating strong looks or cat flicks. The result is strong and not unlike lacquer (hence the name,) although you do need to build the colour with a few layers to ensure it's as punchy as the name suggests. I'm a big fan of Seventeen cosmetics, mainly because they always seem to launch great products that tap into trends without breaking the bank. The 'Deconstructed' collection is no exception - for less than £15.00 you can bag all three products and ensure you're hitting the dance floor looking like the perfect rock chick.
