If there’s one thing that we can all look forward to at some point, it’s a holiday. Whether it consists of a few days off from work to get things done around the house, or a long weekend wrapped up in a cottage in the middle of the English countryside, a holiday is a wonderful way to recharge your batteries and (albeit temporarily) unwind. Of course, if you have the free time and the available finances to fund it, a holiday abroad provides the distance and excitement that English shores just can't compete with. Although summer is the optimum time to get away, winter breaks shouldn’t be ignored. Snow holidays can be both exhilarating and refreshing; perhaps it’s the mountain air or the adventures that are waiting to be had but, either way, if you’re hoping to get away during the cold spell, the mountains across Europe offer spectacular resorts and views to suit all tastes. However, a winter break brings about the ultimate dilemma... What to pack?

After all, it’s not like a typical sunkissed break on the Mediterranean coast. The clothes you’ll need during winter are considerably different (and substantially warmer,) so be sure to add these key items to your shopping list...
A Winter Coat: Try wearing this when you travel, so it doesn’t take up vital room in your suitcase! A winter coat will help to keep the chill at bay when you’re roaming the snow-covered streets of your chosen mountain resort.
Jumpers: A good selection of chunky knits and thinner layers will help you to control your body temperature, no matter where you are. There’s a great selection of women’s jumpers currently available at George, from thick knits to jumpers that can be layered for optimum warmth.
Leggings: It may be tempting to just pack an array of jeans but remember that, if it’s snowing, they’ll take longer to dry. Take some leggings that can be doubled up, worn on their own or underneath outfits to keep the cold at bay. Team with some thick socks and some winter boots to keep the draught away.
Warm Accessories: A hat, scarf and pair of gloves are essential if you don’t want your extremities to freeze. The mountain air can be bitter and the more prepared you are for it, the better. Some good thick gloves are essential. (Although if you’re heading off on a ski holiday, a thermal thinner pair may be easier to grapple with a ski pass!)
Pack wisely, and pack light, so that you’re not only prepared for your winter break but you will also fall within the baggage restrictions incurred by the airline. Most of all, have fun!
