Once you’ve removed your make-up, exfoliated, cleansed, toned and moisturised, it’s easy to forget to apply eye cream. We all know eyes are an instant give away to our age and health, with the skin around the eye being the thinnest on our bodies and therefore the most delicate and prone to damage, but sometimes it's just one product too many. However, I love eye creams and always apply a generous layer every night before bed; there is such a huge selection available it’s tricky to know whether it’s worth investing in or if you can get away with a budget buy. In the name of research, I’ve reviewed a budget, mid range and super premium eye cream to find out if it's really worth splashing the cash.

BUDGET: Superdrug Vitamin E SPF15 Radiance Eye Cream £2.99
Not as hydrating as some brands I’ve tried, but for a Superdrug own product I was really impressed with how this noticeably reduced puffiness and the beginnings of some crow’s feet. I prefer a slightly lighter formula for day use; however for nighttime I like the consistency to be as rich as possible, so this slightly greasy formula was perfect for my needs. I’m very fair and tend to prefer a higher SPF, but for darker complexions this is an affordable way of moisturising the area around your eyes whilst preventing further sun damage.
MID-RANGE: Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye£49.50
Clarins is up there as one of my all time favourite skincare brands; this eye cream is so gentle and moisturises without being heavy or greasy. I also tried applying this on the area between my eyes and temples and noticed my skin was lifted and firmed. If you prefer to apply eye creams during the day, be sure to mix this with some sun cream as it unfortunately doesn’t contain SPF.
PREMIUM: Natura Bisse Diamond Extreme Eye Cream£155.00
Very pricey I know, but this eye cream is extremely nourishing while eliminating all signs of fatigue and stress. Not only does it reduce puffiness and dark circles, but it’s also really luminous so gives a youthful appearance. I love the rich, thick formula as it absorbs surprisingly quickly; however if you wear this during the day you may find it too thick for summer months. The real revelation was doubling this up as a lip cream: I have quite thin lips and found this really plumped them up! Plus it smells incredible!
I believe when it comes to beauty products you do tend to get what you pay for. However, although the Natura Bisse cream was my hands-down favourite, even the budget Superdrug cream impressed me with its hydrating properties. It's good to know there's a product that can help for every budget. Whichever you plump for be sure to apply every morning and night with delicate pressure in a circular motion around the eye socket, gently dabbing into the skin surrounding the eye – never rub it in as the skin here is so delicate.
