London Fashion Week: Reporting Backstage at J. JS Lee

Central Saint Martins graduate J. JS Lee has made a name for herself with her super-chic, minimal collections – and once again, this season she didn’t disappoint. As the Korean designer showcased her Spring/Summer 2014 offerings at London Fashion Week yesterday, I headed backstage to chat to the hair and makeup teams and find out more about the looks they created.

Hurrah for my fellow lazy ladies everywhere – the low ponytail is here to stay! The L’Oreal hair team kept it simple with this low-maintenance style, sectioning the hair and combing it flat to the nape of the neck. A strong hairspray kept flyaways at bay, while model tresses were loosely braided inside a hairnet until show time to ensure a smooth texture.

Nails came courtesy of Butter London, whose gorgeous, iridescent shade ‘Hen Party’ was inspired by the translucent qualities of jellyfish. Kept short and clean, the subtle hint of colour really complemented the simplicity of the collection.

Dewy skin and a vibrant magenta lip was the order of the day in terms of makeup, thanks to the MAC Cosmetics creative team. Face & Body foundation was applied with brush, and massaged in with fingers to give a sheer finish. A subtle highlight was added to the cheekbones, leaving all the attention on that gorgeous fuchsia lip!

I love the simplicity of this – it’s on-trend but uncomplicated at the same time. An early contender for favourite beauty look of this LFW? I think so.
