Fashion Focus: The House of Jam

Once in a while an independent fashion label creeps onto my radar that makes me truly excited. The rising popularity of ASOS Marketplace has meant that these labels are gradually becoming as much of a part of our shopping life as the High Street. I don't even know how vintage and reworked fashion label House of Jam made it into my life – but I am seriously glad it has. Offering a massive range of one off vintage styles and handcrafted designs for fashionistas on a budget, House of Jam is an easily accessible boutique filled with 80's shapes, 90's patterns and an entire range of reasonably priced summer styles you'll be itching to get your hands on.

House of Jam

Gorgeous and vibrant patterns lend themselves to the summer months well - high waisted shorts, kimono style cover-ups and casual t-shirt dresses with pretty prints are ideal for everything from a day in your local park, a beach stop on holiday or showing off your street style at a fashionable festival. The sports luxe styles, grunge revamps, perfect playsuits and on-trend midi-skirts are like nothing you'll ever find on the high street, and I'm certainly enjoying embracing that.

As everything is a one-off, your favourite item might not come in the right size. It's hard to decide whether this is an advantage or a disadvantage: often I've found myself lusting over an item I'll never get my bosoms into. On the upside, I know when I buy something from House of Jam it's mine and mine alone. Gone are the awkward moments of finding yourself face to face with someone wearing the same dress as you.

Much like eBay, ASOS Marketplace gives shoppers the opportunity to leave feedback on sellers. With 337 positive reports (at the time of writing) it's pretty clear that not only do House of Jam sell a glorious selection of goodies, they're pretty good at getting your order to you quickly and with minimum fuss. All that said, it's important to give you a warning. A visit to House of Jam must be taken with great care – I can guarantee, every time I visit I have to resist the urge to buy everything on site in my size. If vintage styles and loud patterns are your thing, you'll be in love by the end of your visit. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Check them out on the ASOS Marketplace here. Prices start from around £22.00.
