I think I must be harbouring a secret desire to be a cowgirl, because my love affair with gingham prints is just getting stronger. I adore the delicate black and white check that never seems to go out of style (and is perfectly suited to the summer months,) simply because it's so effortless; gingham is almost a 'neutral' that you can dress up or down with any colour combination you can think of. What started as a dabble a few years ago has evolved into a full on obsession with anything checked I can get my hands on, but the gingham dress will always be my first love. Did you know that the fabric was originally (and still is in many fashion houses) used as a 'test fabric' to ensure the cut of a new design worked well, without having to waste valuable supplies? It's come a long way since then, now used in its own right as one of the hottest and most sought after styles of the season.
