With only a matter of days to go until the Big Day I know not all of us are organised when it comes to gift giving. That last minute rush and panic buying in the days prior to Christmas is as much of a tradition for many as the event itself, but it can also be incredibly stressful if you're genuinely at a loss as to what to give. In my opinion you can't go wrong with a beautiful scent, even if it is a touch cliche and predictable, as most of us love dousing ourselves in an elegant perfume - but rarely find an excuse to treat ourselves. If you're panicking about what to buy the ladies in your life, here are nine scents handpicked by me that are sure to be loved by everyone; there's not an offensive note in sight, with each providing a subtle and timeless fragrance that means you can't go wrong. No need to worry about what they usually wear or if you're picking the right thing, because these nine scents are sure to be appreciated by all - but without being too generic or boring.

JO MALONE 'GREEN ALMOND & REDCURRANT' (£94.00)
Let's get the pricey one out of the way first, for those a touch extravagant amongst you! This festive scent is utterly delicious and totally expected, combining the juiciness of redcurrants and zing of citrus with the fresh warming notes of green almond, cedarwood and tonka. It's striking and very Jo Malone, perfect for anyone who's already a fan of the brand - but also just a fragrance connoisseur in general. If the price is a bit too steep but you're intrigued, it's also available in a candle.
ELIE SAAB 'GIRL OF NOW' (From £32.00)
Notes of roasted pistachio mix with juicy bites of pear, almond, bright orange blossom, tonka bean and patchouli to make this a delightful warming floral scent. Smooth and rich without being overpowering, it's housed in a jewellery inspired bottle that will appeal to those that love their dressing tables to look classically elegant. Don't be swayed by the name though, as this is very much a woman's scent.
ELIZABETH ARDEN 'WHITE TEA' (From £23.00)
I’m not one to usually like the Arden scents, but I’ve been wearing this off and on for the last year - thanks to its freshness and subtle elegance that goes with everything. With notes including mandarin, white tea extract, sea breeze accord, Turkish rose, musk and madras wood, this is a beautifully crafted scent that will be a firm favourite of anyone who wears it for years to come.
NINA RICCI 'LUNA' (From £35.00)
A bold and sensual scent that will be loved by those with a passion for vanilla, Nina Ricci’s ‘Luna’ is described as a more daring sister to their classic fragrance. It contains notes of orange blossom and wild berries, alongside caramel, vanilla and sandalwood to offer something sexy but not at all sickly sweet. The packaging is cute too, even available in some limited edition frosted bottles for the festive season if you can find them.

MICHAEL BUBLE 'BY INVITATION' (From £18.00)
A firm favourite of mine, this is as beautiful to look at as it is to breathe in. By Invitation includes top notes of red fruits and bergamot, middle notes of lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, peony and rose, alongside base notes are sandalwood, musk, vanilla and praline. The result is a timeless scent that's loved by teens and grandmothers alike, plus it's the ultimate for any Bublé fan. I adore the atomiser-inspired bottle too.
SHAY & BLUE 'BLACK TULIP' (From £55.00)
This beautifully smooth and rich scent features some incredibly unique notes and a composition that should cost a lot more than it does: snowdrops, black tulip, plum, white chocolate and soft woods combine to leave a dry down that's so seasonal it hurts. It reminds me of log fires and long walks on Boxing Day, so it's a great one for any lady in your life that loves the finer and festive things in life.
MICHAEL KORS 'SEXY RUBY' (From £39.00)
Juicy raspberry combines with lush florals, rose petals, Indian jasmine and cashmere woods for a richly addictive sensual scent that will be a huge hit with existing fans of the Michael Kors fragrance portfolio. The juice is expensive, but you're paying as much for the name and bottle as you are for what's inside - and it's cheaper than a new handbag!

EMPORIO ARMANI 'BECAUSE IT'S YOU' (From £41.00)
Don’t dismiss Armani scents if you’re looking for something special but inoffensive; this new launch from the fashion house combines raspberry, neroli, vanilla, musk and rose for a fragrance journey that’s oh so effortless. I really pick up the berry and rose notes, and leaves me wanting more every time. A surprising new favourite that also has a male counterpart if you're feeling spendy.
DKNY 'NECTAR LOVE' (From £35.00)
Another firm favourite of mine over the last year, Nectar Love is one of those scents you can spritz on every morning without having to think about it. It includes yellow freesia, mandarin, grapefruit, jasmine, honeycomb extract, cedar wood, vanilla and musk, all wrapped up in a light and warm juice that’s perfect for transitioning into springtime.
GUCCI 'BLOOM' (From £51.00)
A beautiful floral creation, Gucci Bloom combines notes of jasmine, tuberose and rangoon creeper for a powdery and soft scent that wouldn’t be out of place in an Italian coffee bar. Think expensive and designer, packaged in a simplistic bottle that lets the juice do the talking. For anyone that usually loved and wears floral scents but doesn't like them too heavy, this is the dream.
Have you tried any of my top fragrance picks? Do you have any fail safe options that your loved ones always fall in love with as much as you?
