OOTD: My Christmas Day Look, Featuring Fluff, Glitter & Velvet

I've said it a hundred times already, but I honestly can't believe how close to Christmas we now are. This year has flown by at the speed of light and I'm possibly the most disorganised I've ever been in my life; we've spent every weekend away for the past month and our festive season has been filled with weddings, Christmas markets, concerts, shopping trips and so much more. The result has undoubtedly been me in a constant state of panic that I'm under-delivering at work, forgetting about what's going on in my personal life, failing miserably at wrapping any presents and trying to prep for 2018 when actually all I want to do is wrap up in a blanket and hibernate until March. Whatever happens, I can't wait to spend a few days with my nearest and dearest and ring in my 35th birthday with a crate of prosecco this weekend. (Yep, annoying Xmas Eve baby over here!)

In the spirit of all things festive, I thought I'd give you a little look at what I'm planning to wear on the big day - including this velvet pleated midi dress of dreams that I've started seeing pop up all over my Instagram feed of late. (It appears to be a popular festive choice!) Not only is the colour and material incredibly seasonal, but the winged sleeves keep me covered and cosy without worrying about my ever appearing bingo wings (the bane of a 30-something woman's life I tell you.) It's also lightweight and a bit stretchy too, ensuring there's lots of room for full bellies and second helpings come the 25th December. It's a classic style and shape, meaning you'll be getting it out for many years to come too; a wise investment if ever there was one. (Plus it distracts from the fact my hair has been completely rained on and gone curly in these shots, hence the improptu 'up do' fashioned from an Invisibobble!)

My problem with the majority of wrap or v-neck dresses is that they always swamp my frame if I get them to fit my boobs and bum, meaning they often leave a bit too much breasticle on show; the majority of the time I have to get a bit handy with a needle and thread to keep my modesty in tact, but this time around I decided to be a bit more daring and instead pop on my new Elomi bra which makes a statement of the dress' shortcomings. These strappy numbers have been on-trend for the majority of 2017, but I was definitely a late-comer to the idea and only recently took the plunge; this underwired number is not only super comfy and supportive, but it adds a little bit of sass to your party look too - plus saves on the sewing if you don't have the time. Essentially all they are is extra straps higher up your boob to purposefully make your bra more visable, but they're sexy and stylish in one little package. Although my husband isn't a fan ("is that your boob?!") I do love their Sachi bra, and pretty much every other bra Elomi make. (They're the BEST if you're blessed in the chest department.)

You can't celebrate Christmas without a touch of glitter and sparkle, and this look has got it in droves. From my glittery New Look clutch (which has a long chain strap tucked inside for when you want to drop it over your shoulder) to my ASOS star print gold flats (which are really well made and great quality for the price, despite giving me blisters!) I'm fully embracing the tones this year. Both are pretty great buys and don't cost a fortune either, which is what you want from accessories that you're not going to be wearing every weekend. Matched with my fave Daniel Wellington rose gold watch and my precious Pandora bracelet and charms, it's due to be metallic madness on my person this Christmas!

The finishing touches are undoubtedly a pair of tassel earrings in a fabulous dark green shade that just nod to the festive colour palette (you can also get them in burgandy and blue from Next if you fancy!) and a little fur stole to keep me toasty. I picked this one up in Primark for only £8.00 - they have a really good selection of different colours, lengths and styles starting from only £6.00, so if you're after a little seasonal accessory that glams up every outfit it's the place to pop to first. (I actually wore this to a black tie wedding over the weekend too, and it worked seamlessly with my floor length gown.) There's something about fur that just screams Christmas, so it's the perfect accessory (or gift if you're still looking) no matter your age or personal style.
