Tis the season of shopping and giving. We all love spending our hard-earned cash on bits and bobs to make our Christmases feel all that more festive, but as soon as the New Year hits the decorations come down and that holiday tat becomes just that: bits of stuff we'd rather get rid of than store away for another twelve months. If you want to make a concerted effort to embrace DIY, make use of some of the bits and bobs you've got lying around and get crafty this Christmas, then this is the right place for you! There are so many great ideas to make your festive season all the more personal and hands-on (so much so that I've made a Pinterest board full of inspiration,) but I've picked the ones I've fallen head-over-heels for to show you - and prove how easy it is to create something truly heart-warming without having to spend a fortune. Whether you're a craft-nerd at hard or a complete novice, there are lots of ways you can get creative and give your loved ones a more unique holiday season than what they're used to. Why not try a couple yourself?

MASON JAR SNOWGLOBES
Add a touch of magic to those old jars that have been lying around the kitchen by turning them into a DIY snowglobe. All you need is a little fake snow, some fairy lights and a couple of Christmas tree decorations. Get as creative as you like, but the results will always be stunning - and you know these would fetch a small fortune at a local Christmas market.

BEAUTIFUL HANDMADE WRAPPING
Skip the shop-bought shiny wrapping paper in favour of something more festive, intriguing and altogether beautiful - as well as cheaper. Wrap your chosen gift in standard brown paper (which you can pick up from any stationary supplier) and a touch of yarn, adding in little details to make it look like Santa himself delivered the present. I love these little copper bells and festive garnishes, which were so affordable yet look so effective. (I found mine in Paperchase and Wilko!)
SANTA'S SWEETIE SLEDGE
Is this not the cutest thing ever? Whether you're delivering these to the children in your life, popping them under the tree for when you're mates come round, or simply want to munch on them yourself, this is such a great way to wrap up some sweet treats while keeping costs down. Make sure you've got plenty of candy canes and festive chocolate so you can get creative, but the most important thing is to have fun - and try not to eat them straight away.
BE YOUR OWN BEE
This Christmas Burt's Bees are celebrating their heritage and work they do with communities across the world by encouraging us all to create our own bee table decorations. Pick up some pine cones in your local supermarket, alongside some berries and foliage. (Bonus points if you take a trip to the woods to source your wares; just be careful to pick only what you know to be safe!) For the antennae and tail, use the end of a vanilla pod and stick it all together with a touch of glue. Whether you pop them on your table come Christmas day, add a string to make them into tree decorations, or tie them to gifts, your guests will definitely make a bee-line for them. (Bad pun alert.)
FILL YOUR BAUBLES
I've been a fan of re-fillable baubles for a few years, especially since I was given a box filled with mini nail polishes a few years ago. They're a great way to showcase treats on the tree, but also make great gifts; fill them with chocolate coins, Christmas wishes or even a Burt's Bees lip balm! I like to offer them as festive treats to my friends when they pop over for a glass of something bubbly, keeping the bauble itself and filling it up with something new every time.
