The beauty industry is always at the forefront of change. Collectively we choose not to sit back and be satisfied with our old faithful products, preferring to seek out newness and subtle improvements that can really make the difference - and the clever people in lab coats deliver. It's not uncommon for us to look to other markets and beauty regimes for inspiration, putting our own twist on an idea that really resonates with women across the globe; can you imagine life without blending sponges, micellar water and BB creams? Korea and France have had a big impact on our regimes in the last five years, but where do we look for inspiration over the next twelve months? Known to be a powerhouse in beauty and experts in future trends, the co-founders of shopping destination BeautyMart are definitely the first people to ask when it comes to identifying what's hot and what's not. I've asked them to pinpoint the five products they think are going to be huge in 2016, and they've come up with some interesting ideas...

1. STARSKIN SHEET MASKS (From £6.95)
Available in a range of formulas including brightening, peeling, balancing and smoothing, Starskin really is the next generation of the sheet mask. The convenience, efficiency and cleanliness of the format means they're only increasing in popularity - and Starskin covers all bases while remaining affordable too. Each mask is saturated with vitamins and nourishing ingredients to give your complexion a hydration boost when it needs it most, meaning they're perfect for long-haul flights or heavy weekends away. Co-founder of BeautyMart, Millie Kendall, says: "The face masks trend will continue with sheet masks like Skin Lounge and Starskin still proving to be very popular. However I predict that the format of masks will change to more rubber masks and powder to paste formulas. Face masks aren't just about the benefits they have to your skin but also about the overall inner wellbeing, as they force you to stop and relax and take time out to look after yourself."
2. PURE ELIXIR SUPPLEMENTS (£45.00)
Described as 'skincare in a pill' and clinically proven to reduce wrinkles, the ingredients of Pure Elixir include marine collagen, hyaluronic acid and vitamins C and E. Supplements were big news in 2015, but many of the claims were unsubstantiated and vague; it's great to see the launch of a whole new category which is based on scientific fact and genuine benefit. Millie says: "2016 sees a move towards the inner wellbeing side of beauty; it's not all about whole foods anymore. Inner wellbeing is a much more modern, slick and sophisticated approach to health. Supplements like Pure Elixir formulated with Marine Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid are a great example of skincare pills that will become a part of our daily routines."
3. FRINGE STABILIZERS (£3.50)
The latest addition to BeautyMart's bestselling Korean range, these velcro strips (which come in a range of colours) provide an innovative way to keep your hair out of your face. They're definitely one of those products you never knew you needed! BeautyMart co-founder, Anna-Marie Solowij comments: "Korean Fringe Stabilisers are smart beauty accessories that are made of little squares of the hook side of Velcro. They work to hold hair off the face while you cleanse or apply make-up. They’re cute and clever and typical of the sort of products coming out of South Korea that we all want." I've actually had one of these for a while, and although they're odd, they're actually quite handy when applying makeup or cleansing your face; unlike a hair band, they won't damage the style you've created if you're just topping up your look.
4. MAGIC PEELING MITT (£4.00)
Used by professionals in Korean spas, one side of this mitt is designed to cleanse while the other exfoliates. The exfoliating side is made of rayon, a natural wood pulp derivative that becomes hardened when wet, which gabs to the skin then sloughs off dead cells so that they roll away. Not only will this help improve blood circulation due to its skin-stimulating action, but help prevent ingrown hairs, bumps on the upper arms and clogged pores. It's also the perfect accessory for self-tanning fans who want to maintain an even colour as it fades, as well as boosting the effect of moisturising products - as healthy skin is better able to absorb creams, lotions and oils. At £4.00 each, this is the kind of product you'll be buying in bulk over the coming months.
5. LIPSTIKS FROM SKIKS COSTMETICS (£15.00)
I'm a bit of a lipstick hoarder, but 99% of them look the same. It's refreshing to see an innovative brand such as Lipstiks take something bland and turn it into an altogether more interesting proposition. Anna-Marie Solowij's says: "These flip top lipsticks in retro modern chrome packaging come in a range of classic and fashion shades. Lipstick continues to be a strong look for 2016 so shades such as Cinnamon and Nude are perfect on-trend choices." I love the metallic angular finish and the unique shape of the bullet; the sharper edges help to create a more precise finish, while the bullet contains a serious amount of high intensity colour. The pack actually completely twists to release more of the bullet, plus there's a super cute box that you can slip three shades into for travelling. Fun and fabulous simultaneously.
