Guess what? It's the first day of December, which means it's officially time to get excited about Christmas! Although the bloggersphere has been spilling over with gift guides since about April, I've held out for as long as possible and finally pulled together my own edit of fabulous stocking fillers that I think will make any woman happy - no matter her age. Stockings may be traditionally packed full of useless trinkets and bits of novelty tat that don't make it into the new year, but I'd definitely rather swap another chocolate reindeer for a seasonal polish I can actually get some use out of! Here's the lowdown on some of my favourite stocking-sized beauty gifts that will guarantee a smile from a loved one this forthcoming Christmas morning.

Eve Snow Gel Detox Nail Varnish Trio (£28.00)
A relatively unknown brand, Eve Snow polishes contain nourishing ingredients (including Equisetum Arvense Extract, Vitamin B12 and Marula Oil - rich in vitamin C and antioxidants) to protect nails and ensure they're as healthy as possible. They're free from formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, dibutyl phthalate, toluene and parabens, as well as providing a super shiny finish. This little trio contains two nude tones and a 'gel effect' topcoat to ensure your nails are looking fabulous for longer, without having to worry about overloading on the nasties. Expensive, but worth it.
Tangle Teezer Limited Edition Compact Styler (£12.99)
Everyone loves a Tangle Teezer, thanks to their patented smart-teeth technology which provides gentle and instant hair smoothing for kids and adults alike. This limited edition number not only comes packed in a cracker-esque box, but it features tiny festive silver stars to get you in the mood for New Years Eve. I love the fact it's festive without looking naff come January, plus it's genuinely handy - and handbag sized!
The Body Shop 'The Sparkler' Body Shimmer (£14.00)
Add a touch of shimmer to the party season with this special edition 1920s inspired body shimmer. This glittering mist is available in a choice of silver or gold, and can be used over the body, hair or face. It puffs on a delicate mist to create a subtle shimmery result, or you can mix it in with a body lotion for a long-lasting finish. Yes, it's a total gimmick and probably won't see the light of day when the party season is over - but it looks awesome on a dressing table.
Aveda 'A Gift To Make Her Smile' Lipgloss Duo (£17.00)
This duo of Nourish-Mint Rehydrating Lip Glaze features a shimmering nude and alluring red shade, ticking off both ends of the spectrum. Infused with plant emollients, the lip gloss glides effortlessly over lips to deliver a satin shine and even colour, with a refreshing vanilla and mint fragrance. Antioxidant pomegranate protects lips and smooths the appearance of fine lines, whilst naturally derived conditioners leave you with a picture-perfect pout. Give the gift of power lips this Christmas!
Mavala 'A Cracking Duo' Nail Varnish (£9.00)
Available in six complementary colour ways, this cute crackers put a festive twist on something that's otherwise 'same old, same old'. Mavala's cute mini polishes are far more practical (who actually ever gets through a full sized bottle of polish?) while offering a great colour result too. The price is fab considering you get two polishes, plus it's a great way to introduced a loved one to a brand they're sure to adore after a couple of applications.
Ted Baker Mini Body Souffle (£4.00)
One of the most overpriced fashion brands on the high street, Ted Baker have managed to channel their iconic brand into a much more affordable beauty alternative. There's a huge selection of pampering treats available from Boots this Christmas, but these mini Body Souffles are a great place to start. The beauty is in the packaging more than the contents, but at £4.00 (and 3 for 2) you can't really say no.
Nails Inc Snowglobe Nail Polish (£15.00)
I've already dedicated a whole blog post to this glittery polish (read 'how to take another glittery polish and turn it into something fab' here,) but it's definitely worth mentioning again. The novelty factor makes it a polish to be treasured (just shake it up to activate the snowglobe effect,) but it's genuinely a great product too. Layer up the glitter, leave it to settle for a more subtle result, or shake it up for a high impact glittery finish.
Bagsy Pretty Cheeks Velvet Blush (£16.00)
If you haven't heard of Bagsy, then you need to get acquainted. The whole concept has been built on the need for beauty products that are great quality and compact enough to slip in your bag, but the added bonus is the fact they're utterly beautiful too. Adorned with floral and feminine designs, anything from the range would make a fab stocking filler - but this cute peachy blush is a personal fave. Pinks can be too harsh in the winter as they clash against our pale complexions, but this peach is a more subtle and warming alternative.
The Body Shop Robin Body Sponge (£4.00)
Oh Mr Body Shop, you embrace the festive season like nobody else! Stores across the country are bursting with some of the best beauty gifts available this year, but it's this super cute robin body sponge that's got my attention. Hang it off your tree, pop it in a stocking or use it as a gift tag - but either way, it will definitely make any morning shower all the more enjoyable.
Roger & Gallet Hand Cream Cracker (£6.00)
I love Roger & Gallet hand creams, thanks to their exceptionally lightweight formula and delicate fragrances; they're a great alternative to the sometimes heavy creams that lurk in the bottom of our bags at this time of year. Although this is literally a cardboard cracker with a hand cream inside, it's all about embracing the season and giving the gift of soft and soothed hands this Christmas! Everyone will love this, from your best mate to your great aunt - and it's only six quid too.
Topshop Beauty Mini Lip Bullet (£5.00)
Topshop have become pretty strong contenders when it comes to Christmas stocking fillers, and this year is no exception. These mini lip bullets provide a hit of colour with a touch of moisture, in a much more affordable format than some of the more premium brands. I love this deep plum colour as an alternative to the more traditional red - and it will suit you more than you may think!
Have any of these stocking fillers caught your eye? Have you bagged any other must-have beauty treats ahead of the festive season?
