You may know the name. You may recognise the packaging. You may even tried it without realising. Colorsport is one of those brands that's so handy, yet so under-the-radar, that's it about time it stood up and got the attention it deserves. I'm all for a bit of fancy packaging, but sometimes it's the functional and effective products that really stand out as something to be spoken about - and Colorsport is just that. They offer a capsule range of long-lasting eye solutions, that include a 30 Day Mascara, 24 Hour Eyeliner, Rapid Lash-Gro Liner, Eyebrow Definer and a mini Smokey Eyes Kit. They're very much a functional brand with a problem-solution approach, but they take lash and brow maintenance out of the salon and put it back in your bathroom - which not only saves you valuable time, but valuable money too.
Although an at-home solution will never completely compete with an expert in-salon experience, Colorsport offer a range of helpful products that can transition you from one treatment to the next - or just boost your look a little on a daily basis. I love getting my lashes tinted, but finding the time is near enough impossible; the 30 Day Mascara is a great alternative that gently tints lashes in under five minutes so you can go mascara free without worrying you look half asleep. All you do is thoroughly cleanse, brush on the colour solution and leave for a minute, before following up with a few layers of the colour gel; after a couple of minutes, just wipe away the formula and ta-da! Darker lashes and more definition. (Do follow the instructions, but equally use your common sense and amend them if necessary to make the process easier!)
It may not be a huge transformation, but it does tint the lashes and help them to look fuller - simply because my very fair lashes are now more visible. The transformation isn't huge and doesn't really show up in photos, but it's about that little confidence boost that makes a difference on no-makeup days. Similarly, when used on the brows the solution helps to gently tint fair hairs for a more uniformed finish that's incredibly natural; no drawn-on or excessively angular brows here! Although the results don't necessarily last up to a month (I'd recommend every other week, to keep lashes full of colour,) at £8.25 for a kit you can use up to twelve times, you really can't complain.
The other products in the range are equally as handy - the 24 Hour Eyeliner may not be the most pigmented, but once it's on it's definitely on. I struggled to create a winged look, but it is useful for delicately colouring-in your lashline to create a fuller-looking finish. However, the Rapid Lash-Gro Liner is absolutely genius; they claim that in just 4-8 weeks this innovative treatment will help to improve the appearance of eyelashes’ length, thickness and fullness. If you've ever wanted to get the benefit of an eyelash enhancing treatment but kept forgetting to actually use it, then this eliminates the need for an extra step - because your daily eyeliner contains all the ingredients you need to boost your lashes.
Colorsport's formula contains 2.5% Capixyl, a clinically proven lash-enhancing active ingredient, so you can nourish while you apply your makeup. The water-resistant and smudge-free formula glides on smoothly in one stroke, effortlessly creating an on-trend flick that doesn't budge. I love a multi-functional product, and this makes total sense to me; why not enhance your lashes while you're applying your makeup? Minimal time, minimal fuss, minimal cost. Although I haven't been using this long enough to see any result for myself, it's well worth swapping up your usual liner for one with double the benefit.
The other products in the range include the Eyebrow Definer and the Smokey Eyes & Perfect Brows Kit, which includes three eyeshadows and some mini tools that are great for traveling or on-the-go. The eyeshadows themselves may not be Urban Decay (they're very functional,) but they are smooth and easy to work with - as well as coming in a super cute palette with mini tweezers that make my insides flip with joy. (What is it about mini things that make us so happy?!) The Eyebrow Definer is essentially a chunky felt tip pen that's precise enough to fill in brows and create a natural finish; although the colour is too pale for me personally (I like my brows dark!), it is good for those that prefer a subtler tone or who want to quickly fill in sparse areas with an easy-to-use product. It's also great for using over a brow pencil to create definition and 'strands' of hair, so you don't end up with a harsh look.
Although the brand isn't the most glamorous, it is incredibly practical - as well as being affordable (prices start at only £7.25.) My personal favourites are the 30 Day Mascara and Rapid Lash-Gro Liner, but the others are well worth a look if you're in the mood for a little treat that's both practical and beauty related. The next time you're in Boots, don't just pick up your usual face mask and a can of deodorant... Treat yourself to a little Colorsport too. Because you never know what you might fall in love with.
