NEW From Dolce & Gabbana For Christmas: Elegant Golden Tones & Shimmering Beauties

It may only be the first week of November, but the festive season is well and truly upon us. The red cups are out, the lights are on and the shopping has begun - so its no surprise that the beauty world is getting in on the action too. Although I don't like to feature Christmas gifts and stocking fillers too early, there are too many beautiful seasonal collections available already to not let you know about... Including this golden five-piece from Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. Described as a pure indulgence "inspired by the exciting moments experienced as the year comes to a close and families gather for the holidays," each token gold piece offers something exquisite. Although there are the usual reds and smokey tones available simultaneously, I love that they've used their golden brand equity to create something rather understated and seasonally appropriate - which ironically is not what I've come to expect from D&G!

The quality of many premium makeup brands is questionable, but Dolce & Gabbana always deliver exceptional textures in deliciously extravagant packs. Their nail polishes (although a staggering £20.00 each) are quickly becoming some of my favourites, offering fabulous pigment that really lasts; these two new gold shades are not only perfect for the party season when you want to add a little shimmer to your look (without overdoing the sparkle,) but they apply like a dream. Additionally, the lipstick (£25.50) and the gloss (£23.50) offer just a hint of sparkle and shine that looks fabulous on naked lips when you want to keep the focus on the eyes; however, they also work really well over a lip stain when you want your pout to have punch.

Dolce & Gabbana may be more well known for their lips and nails, but their creamy eyeshadow pots are well worth a look too. They're rich, creamy, pigmented and apply beautifully across the lid; they don't sit in creases or flake, nor do they smudge - they dry almost immediately to leave a perfected finish, that in this case works as a fabulous base. I love this golden shade as you can also double it up as a little highlighter pot, dabbing a touch on to the tops of cheekbones or on your cupid's bow for a touch of radiance. Yes, D&G makeup is expensive and probably not what you want to splurge on just before we hit the most expensive period of the year, but it's just oh so pretty! Because you've been a good girl this year, there's no reason why Santa couldn't bring you a little golden D&G treat...

What do you think of these new Dolce & Gabbana cosmetics? Are they a pipe-dream or must have?

The 'Holiday' collection of Dolce & Gabbana makeup is available now, exclusive to Harrods and Harrods.com. Prices start from £20.00.
