We all leave hectic lives and juggle numerous different roles every single day, as well as exposing ourselves to the elements of city life, late nights and early mornings. Every second of our turbo-charged day generates tiny invisible aggressors called 'free radicals,' which become harder to fight off as we age. As soon as we hit our thirties, our skin begins to weaken and therefore takes a lot longer to repair or recover from damage; these free radicals can cause our skin to become dull, wrinkled and pigmented - all factors which we associate with the signs of ageing. In order to help minimise this and keep our skin looking radiant, one of my favourite skincare brands has developed a portfolio of products that block 100% of free radicals, as well as offering an instantly plumping effect to help skin to look great. This spring Caudalie extend their range to now include not only an Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum, Eye & Lip Cream, Broad Spectrum Correct Fluid and Overnight Detox Oil, but a thicker Protect Cream for dryer skin.
The entire range is a pleasure to use, gliding over skin easily and quickly absorbed to leave my complexion feeling comforted and refreshed. Thanks to its unusual texture, the Defense Serum doesn't feel like a traditional serum and is absorbed into the skin to leave practically no detectable residue on the surface; if you don't like heavy or greasy serums under your makeup, then this is a great alternative that will also help to battle the elements we face on a daily basis. For a hydration hit the Protect Fluid and Cream help to hydrate the skin and soothe dryness without overloading the surface with too much - you can easily use these under makeup without worrying it's going to slip off. Even the heavier cream still absorbs into skin to leave an incredibly smooth surface and just a hint of delicious fragrance, with the added benefit of SPF20 too.
My current favourite from the range is the Overnight Detox Oil, which is one of the 'least oily' oils I've ever tried. It's not heavy, overly greasy or intimidating if you're not used to the texture - a few drops warmed between hands and massaged into skin just gives me a little lift while I sleep. Essential oils including lavender, white santal, carrot, neroli and petitgrain help to detoxify, heal, purify and soothe, while sweet almond and rosehip oils help to regenerate, bring glow to skin and work to reduce the appearance of fatigue. I've taken to mixing it in with other night creams to get the best of both worlds a few times a week, waking up with healthy looking skin I don't have to worry about.
Although I'm not a huge fan of the Eye & Lip Cream (I don't find it gets to work on my under-eye area as much as I'd like,) it can be used around the lips to reduce those telltale signs of ageing. If you're a smoker then this could help plump the outer rim of lips and reduce the appearance of those deep winkles that age us so quickly; it's been specifically developed to target this area and is the only product within Caudalie's portfolio to do so, making it well worth a look if you have those specific concerns.
If you're in the market for a new skincare regime, or just a little top-up to help you face the endless cycle of late nights, early mornings, pollution and sun damage, then Caudalie's C15 range offers a great way of targeting those concerns without overloading skin. It's affordable, offers seriously impressive results when used over time and is (most importantly) a pleasure to use. I love that they keep things simple, breaking everything down into easy-to-understand steps with problem-solution type outcomes. They look great, feel great, smell great and do great things. What more could you ask for?
