Beauty News: Three Key Hair Trends From The Golden Globes 2015

One of the resolutions I've made for this blog during 2015 is to stay ahead of the beauty trends coming in from celebrities, fashion weeks and awards shows, digesting them and providing you with relatable advice and information that you can translate into your every day life. More on this resolution and how I'm planning on managing it later, but first up in this series of posts is a look at the hair styles strutting down the red carpet at the Golden Globes. As the first big award show of the year, and the one that starts them all off, anticipation was rife and we weren't left disappointed. The fashion may have been full of shape, sparkle and couture, but the hair was relatively simple and understated. I've indentified three key hair trends from the Globes that were seen on everyone from Kate Hudson and Amy Adams, to Sienna Miller and Naomi Watts - and the great news is that you can sport them all yourself this Saturday night with very little effort.

1. Sleek & Simple
First up is possibly the laziest and simple of 'dos there ever was. In basic terms this look involves pinning up your hair in a low bun and spraying it with the most hardwearing hairspray you can find. The key to looking uber sleek is to ensure not a hair is out of place and that your dress does the talking; this is a 'non-style' style and looks great on practically any face shape. If you have shorter hair and don't have enough length to pin it back effectively, then Rosamund Pike shows how a sleek and simple bob can do the trick just as well. The fantastic news is that this is perfect on second or third day hair, so there's no need to spend ages washing or styling!

2. Hollywood Glamour
Old school Hollywood definitely came back with a bang last weekend, but with a more modern and subtle twist. Wearing deep set curls that have been brushed through injects glamour into any outfit, while an offset parting and mini fringe like Jessica Chastain keeps it cool. Heated rollers or a large barrel wand are great at creating large curls and oodles of volume, while brushing through with your fingers ensures the overall look is relaxed - you don't want to look too polished, too vintage or too controlled. I love that this looks like it takes an age to create, but it's actually really quick.

3. Choppy Texture
A look being seen all over the high street and within magazines, choppy and rough textured bobs are definitely the style de jour for 2015. This look is perfect for mid-length hair or styles that are growing out, as the messier the waves the better; it even works well on slightly longer styles by running fingers through hair and spritzing sea salt spray to remove shine. To create the look you just need a curling wand and different sized segments of hair, curling away from the face and leaving about an inch of hair away from the heat at the bottom - this gives that blunt edge that ensures this look is super modern and fit for a red carpet as much as the office or pub.

Which is your favourite of the three looks from the Golden Globes?
