Every time Benefit launch a new product it becomes the most hyped-up and anticipated of the year; they have a very clever marketing department that can make even the most 'seen that a hundred times before' lipgloss seem like something completely revolutionary. Hot off the tails of their lustworthy Majorette blusher (which is so loved that I've hit the pan and still continue to dig my finger in to see how much more I can get out of it,) is their 'Puff Off' Instant Eye Gel that combines the benefits of a smoothing eye cream with highlighting and light reflecting qualities.
Applied in the morning under makeup, the peptide blend helps to reduce puffiness around the eye while the light diffusing particles help to smooth away the appearance of fine lines. Paired with an innovative 'iron' applicator tip which helps to subtly smooth on and glide the formula to where you need it most, the result is instantaneous and somewhat incredible for a makeup brand. The texture of the 'gel' is more like a velvety smooth cream which is easily absorbed into the skin, leaving your under-eye area feeling cooled and refreshed. It even helps to reflect the light and brighten dullness/dark circles, providing the perfect base for makeup.
After seeing this floating around the bloggersphere for a few weeks, and knowing that Benefit products are always a little overhyped (I blame it on the gorgeous packaging that blinds us all,) I had reservations about how good this Puff Off would really be. However, within a few nano seconds of applying it to my rather tired and overworked under-eye area it was love; the formula helps to reduce puffiness which makes dull tone even more prominent, while smoothing over imperfections and fine lines to leave skin looking refreshed. Although this isn't a skincare treatment and won't provide long-term results (it's definitely a cosmetic with the results being washed away with your cleanser,) it's great under makeup to give your eyes a boost.
Benefit also say you can apply this over your makeup throughout the day to perk up your eyes; I personally think applying it in the same way as in the morning is too much and has a tendency to move around my concealer/powder, but dabbing a little onto skin with your index finger can help to provide a lift. If you like the idea of 'blurring' primers but can't get on with the texture, then this is a much more lightweight and wearable alternative that provides a similar result - it's essentially blurring away some of the tell-tale signs of a bad night's sleep so you can power through your day. Are you looking forward to Puff Off launching this January?
Benefit's NEW 'Puff Off' Eye Gel will be available nationwide from 31st January priced £22.50.
