I'm forever struggling with storage space for all my fabulous makeup and beauty products, continually buying more units or transferring items from one basket to the next. However, a quick search of Pinterest shows there are so many easy, innovative and cost effective ways of storing your products - that also look fab! I've got a few of these systems in place myself, but others I can't wait to implement. If you want to have a look at all the fab ideas I've found, take a peek at my Pinterest board, but for now here are my top five favourites!

1. Old Candle Jars
If you've ever spent £40 on a candle, you'll know how painful it is when you burn it for the very last time. It's hard to part company with it, especially as the galss jar is just so damn pretty... Well now you can turn that expensive accessory into a handy makeup storage system, cleaning it up and using it to hold your makeup brushes or lipbalms. If you're feeling super fancy, why not even add a few stones in the bottom, or even give it a lick of paint? There's so much you can do with little glass jars and it just gives you an excuse to buy another candle.
2. Door-Hanging Shoe Racks
Possibly the most genius makeup storage idea I've ever discovered, those cheap over-the-door hanging units that hold your shoes (rather ineffectively) also make an incredible storage system for makeup or nail varnish. Each one contains around 36 individual compartments and can hold an absolute tonne of makeup - all in an out-of-the-way place that's also easy to see.
3. Magnetised Frames
If you have a capsule makeup collection, or even just a few products you rely on daily, why not create a magnetised display board that showcases them like a work of art? Simply buy a magnetised back sheet, frame it, add a touch of magnetic tape to your products and showcase your makeup as if it was the latest from Van Gogh. Genius, pretty and space saving.
4. Giant Vases
If you like your makeup and accessories to be on display, then why not invest in a few giant glass vases that you can pop marbles or stones into? These will then help you to keep your products upright and stored in a handy transparent container. It looks pretty, is totally practical and doesn't cost the earth either. I love mixing and matching varying sizes and designs for a kitsch effect on my dressing table, using them to store all my makeup brushes in one place.
5. Stackable Boxes
Something that's currently filling my office, simple stackable boxes allow you to store 'overflow' products or simply keep everything out of the way if you don't need it daily. By using chalk paint you can also create your own innovative labels that can be wiped away and re-drawn with a handy piece of chalk. You can pick these up from IKEA in various sizes and for only a few pounds.
