When Burberry first launched their beauty line I was so excited I nearly screamed; I love a bit of designer stuff, especially if it doesn't require a long process of saving. Although their nail colours are delicious (we'll ignore the chip-prone formula that barely lasts a day,) it's the other products that have been causing a stir of late - including this new trio of eye products that aim to give you the same sultry sexy understated look as the Burberry models we know and love. Including a mascara, liquid and khol liner, this trio will provide everything you need to recreate the catwalk look that's always so popular post-LFW. But knowing the price points, does this new collection live up to the hype and should be be parting with our hard-earned cash for a little bit of luxury?

The mascara is super lightweight and easy to apply to lashes, although it does require a lot of patience and a tonne of layers to get a decent effect. Considering it's called 'Bold Lash' mascara I was expecting serious impact, but the result is incredibly subtle - almost like a natural lash look that provides an 'undone' result, so we can all channel our inner Cara/Suki/Kate. (Apparently it's not cool to look like you're trying.) Although packaging isn't alone worth splurging £23.00 on a mascara, this comes close to justifying it... It's just so pretty, subtle and totally Burberry. I don't think I would re-purchase this more than once, but it's a great intro to a brand and provides a little bit of designer stash when you can't justify a piece of the AW14 collection.
However, it's the Liquid Eyeliner that I've really been enjoying using and is definitely worth a look. The liner is super precise and has one of the finest tips I've ever used, providing an amazingly thin finish that frames the eyes subtly; this is one for creating understated looks rather than full-on cat flicks. Although the pigment bleeds on my hand, it's actually really stubborn and long-lasting on the eye; you can get so close to the lash line and create an incredible result that's great for cat flick veterans and novices alike. The only downside is that it's an eye-wateringly expensive £23.00!
Furthermore, the Khol liners will also set you back a staggering £18.00 but do look incredibly beautiful on your dressing table; they provide great pigment, a blendable chalky finish and a workable texture. There's no flaking or movement when these are applied to the lashline, allowing you to create definition or a smudgier result when buffed into the lid with a brush. I do like these, although their price point is so prohibitive they're definitely an indulgent treat - for both yourself and your makeup bag.
I do love the idea of Burberry beauty, but the prices are so high that they'd need to be incredible quality to justify replacing your current favourites; although they're beautiful and great to use, I'd definitely give them all a test in store before making a purchase. Some of the products are great, but others are incredibly disappointing (stay away from the new eyebrow pencil which is one of the worst I've ever used.) I've no doubt hardcore fans will snap everything up in an instant, but for the more cautious among you it's worth spending your pennies wisely.
