Winter is definitely coming. As we turn up the heating, wrap ourselves in wooly clothing and expose our extremities to the freezing cold weather, our hands can become overly neglected. I'm forever applying hand cream in the colder months, as the skin is delicate and prone to dryness when not taken care of correctly. Although there are tonnes of hand creams out there, during the winter months I believe our hands need a little extra attention and a serious formula to guide them through the season. Here are my current favourites that are tubes of greatness with extra oomph.

1. Dr Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Hand & Nail Balm (£7.29)
Formulated for the driest and most active hands, this ultra rich organic argan hand salve acts an intensive moisture repair treatment. It contains Aloe Vera, Citrus Fruit Oil, Baobab Fruit Extract and Argan Oil to help soothe, moisturise and protect even the most severely dry and damaged hands. It even aids the skin's own natural healing process, locking in moisture for up to twelve hours for intense hydration. It's non-greasy and smells delicious.

2. Hand Chemistry Extreme Hydration Complex (£18.99)
Launched just in time for the colder weather, this has an ultra-concentrated 24% active ingredient formula that contains five hydration active technologies. The cream offers deep, long-lasting moisture and helps to provide visible improvements to your skin's texture over a period of time. This little tube holds some serious technology, including a Protective Shield Matrix which forms an invisible layer on the surface of your skin to aid moisture retention and protect against extreme coldness. It's like a skincare routine for your hands.

3. Lanolips Antibacterial Hand Cream (£9.85)
A hand cream that also instantly kills 99.9% of germs? This is simply genius. Perfect for the colder weather and fighting the battle against flu, Lanolips' hand cream moisturises the skin with a light silky layer of ultra-pure-grade lanolin for instant relief. It's surprisingly lightweight and doesn't smell medicinal, making it a perfect handbag essential for the colder months.

4. The Body Shop Wild Rose Hand Cream SPF15 (£11.00)
Although this is specifically designed for more mature skin, it injects moisture and goodness into dry hands that are crying out for support. It can help to reduce the appearance of brown spots over time, but in the short-term it contains SPF15 to protect against sun damage and a delicate rose scent that's incredibly comforting. The formula literally melts into the skin, leaving no residue or greasiness on the surface of hands - it's perfect for applying while at your desk when you don't want to stick you your keyboard.

5. Greenscape Organic Olive Hand & Nail Cream (£6.99)
This little tube contains organic Olive Oil to moisturise, as well as Calendula and Sweet Almond Oil to soothe hard working hands. It's free from petrochemicals, sulphates, parabens and synthetic colours and fragrances, making it great for those concerned with layering chemicals all over their hands. Pomegranate antioxidants also help to rejuvenate and protect hands, making it a luxurious and pleasurable hand cream to use any time of the year.

Are you a fan of hand cream? Do you love any of my current faves?
