I spend my life attached to my smartphone. Unfortunately it's the first thing I look at in the morning, as well as the last thing I look at before I go to sleep. (The boyfriend or episodes of Killing Spree don't count.) Our phones have become so engrained in our daily lives that we do everything but talk on them; we read, watch films, spend too much time on Twitter, add filters to our strategically taken photos, find out what's on at the cinema and even discover a great hairdresser only 97 meters from our current destination. Our phones have become the ultimate source of information and there are millions of apps that make our lives easier. I'm constantly downloading new things to play with, deleting them and replacing with something even more exciting, but these are my current favourite apps that are residing on my homescreen.

1. Ask Bobbi
The first app to launch from makeup maestro Bobbi Brown, 'Ask Bobbi' is literally like having her in your pocket. The easy to navigate app hosts all manner of tutorials, step-by-step guides, tips, new season looks; it's a great helping hand for experts and novices alike. I find myself frequently playing around and discovering new elements to the app, but I especially like the fact it allows you to find your nearest counter and book a free tutorial.

2. Boots
This handy little app can be connected with your Boots Advantage Card, not only givign you visibility on the points you've accrued but also sending offers direct to your phone - there's no need to use those clunky in-store machines anymore! It also offers shopping functionality, meaning you can stock up on essentials without even leaving your bed, and even allows you to scan the barcodes of stocked products to find out more info. Genius.

3. Clinique By Invitation
Although this isn't an interactive app, it does allow you to collect 'points' when shopping at any Clinique Selfridges counter and receive rewards as a result. If you're a frequent customer then it's a handy tool to have when shopping, especially as they send you exclusive offers and incentives to redeem in store. Can we have one for the rest of the UK too please?

4. Get The Stars
From the people behind Get The Gloss, this little app makes horoscopes cool again. By pulling in your birthday from Facebook, the app provides you with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly horoscopes that are more inspiring than the generic ones in magazines. Written beautifully and full of motivational advice, there's definitely a reason to check your phone every day.

5. Smart Alarm
I could stay in bed until tea time if left to my own devices, but this handy app allows you to be woken gently and according to your body's rhythms - helping you to both understand your sleeping patterns and be woken gently. There are also loads of different alarm tunes to choose from, as well as graphs that illustrate your sleeping patterns over a period of time. Essential for those with trouble sleeping.

Do you have any favourite smartphone apps that you're glad you discovered?
