Charlotte Tilbury may be best known for being the magic hands behind Kate Moss' beauty looks, but she's also an extraordinary talent that knows how to make a lipstick. Her 'Matte Revolution' lipsticks have been hailed as the best thing to hit Selfridges in some time, taking a traditional bullet and injecting a serious amount of glamour. The rose gold vintage-inspired case may look like something out of Downton Abbey (unsurprisingly the period Charlotte loves the most,) but it's definitely hiding a modern interpretation of a classic. From the square tip which aids application, to the super lightweight texture that provides a delicate matte finish, there's so much to love about these bullets of wonder. They epitomise what I love about the turn of the twentieth century, while providing everything a modern woman wants from a lipstick.
Lipstick is traditionally full of colour and shine, helping to create a serious amount of impact, but this collection provides a much softer and more wearable finish. The colour palettes are much more muted and suited to daily use, while the matte result is a great alternative to the super glossy and slippy finishes we're so used to. Unlike most lipsticks (which can be heavy, drying and bleed into fine lines,) these are incredibly smooth to apply and provide a comfortable finish which lasts; you can build the result and re-apply without causing discomfort. You don't even need to add a touch of balm over the top, because the texture is creamy enough to feel as though you're already wearing some. It's one of the only lipsticks in my collection that I can wear all day without taking it off and starting from scratch.
Although these are a bit of an investment at £23.00 each, the glamour each tube oozes will make you feel like a million bucks - it's a much wiser investment than a pair of new shoes that you won't be able to walk in past 10am. The two colours featured (Very Victoria, after Victoria Beckham, and Amazing Grace) are perfect for adding a subtle tint to lips on a daily basis, as well as complementing a strong smokey eye come the weekend. Basically there's nothing I don't like about them or a reason I can find not to recommend; ditch the Chanel, YSL, Bobbi Brown and MAC - there's a new lipstick queen in town.
