Much has been said in the bloggersphere about Pixi's Glow Tonic, with positive reviews and commentary causing it to sell out quicker than it can be re-stocked. Knowing that you can only buy it online or from Pixi's one stand-alone store in Carnaby Street, only appears to make it all the more desirable - I've known people to buy out a complete shelf just in case they can't track any more down for the rest of the year. But what exactly is this miracle orange liquid, how does it work and is the hype justified? I've been putting it to the test for the past month to see if I could finally answer those questions just for you.

Described as an oxygenating and exfoliating facial glow tonic, Pixi claims that this watery liquid helps to tone, firm and tighten. As well as helping to remove dead skin cells from the surface for healthier looking skin, it's suitable for all skin types (including sensitive,) it's alcohol free and contains soothing aloe vera. If you're not familiar with toners, then essentially they can be used after cleansing to remove any last traces of product, dirt and grime while helping to clear your complexion of any build-up that may be hiding your natural glow - this is basically what the Pixi Glow Tonic is, albeit less abrasive and more pleasant to use.
After cleansing (both morning and night) I've been using a little amount on a cotton bud, wiping it over my face to reveal a significant amount of grey nastiness on the surface - I'm always shocked by how much grime and build-up sits stubbornly on the surface, no matter how thoroughly you think you've cleansed. The orange colour led me to believe this would be tightening and sting my skin a little, but the complete opposite is true; it's like using water but better, because it doesn't strip the skin or cause irritation. It's incredibly pleasant to use, especially thanks to the delicate scent of ginseng.
Over the last four weeks I've been using this most nights after cleansing and before my night cream, while in the morning I use it occasionally after I've gotten out of the shower and before I start my skincare routine. Although it instantly helps your skin to feel clean and nourished, the long-term impact is that your complexion just looks and feels a little more radiant. I love products that you use and only realise the benefit some weeks later, like a little skincare surprise; this has definitely helped my naked skin to glow a bit more and minimised any blemishes or imperfections. The texture appears a lot smoother and my makeup seems to glide on with ease; I always thought I had pretty good skin, but this just shows you can always do better.
It's hard to really pinpoint why this is so good, but it really does help skin to glow and look a little healthier.
