Michael Kors Launch A Fab & Expansive Nail Varnish Collection

Having previously been somewhat of a nail varnish addict, the last few months have seen me become a little underwhelmed and bored with polish. Everything landing on my desk seemed to be 'same old, same old,' while I couldn't even muster the enthusiasm to apply my favourite summer shades. However, that all seemed to change when an expansive collection of colour from Michael Kors popped through my letterbox - finally, something nail related I could be excited about. Although the brand launched a capsule collection of colour earlier in the year, it's these new shades (and so many of them!) that are causing me to go weak at the knees and finally apply some polish.

The new collection is made up of fab summer hues (nudes, lilac and the perfect coral) and a quartet of Autumn appropriate colours to take you through to the next season and beyond. With these you've pretty got every colour you could possibly need over the next few months, including some statement colours that will be must-haves come Christmas. I love the understated pink shades which are on the right side of elegance (so many brands make pinks cheap and bubblegum,) while the lilac (Whisper) is dreamy enough to channel my inner girlie girl. The coral shade (Audition) is literally the *perfect* shade for all skin tones and the colour I always search for, but struggle to pin down - it's understated without being bland, but still looks great with a sunkissed glow.

Paired with four darker shades for when the leaves start turning, Michael Kors have come up trumps. The 'greige' shade is still due to be just as popular this Autumn-Winter, thanks to its ability to be elegant, sophisticated and on-trend all in one; this pick (Intrigue) will suit any skin tone, age or style. The dark navy (Femme Fatale) is a more affordable copy of an incredibly popular Chanel shade, while the metallic dark grey (Seduction) is perfectly timed to surround the '50 Shades Of Grey' hype that will be everywhere ahead of the film's launch next year.

Not only are the colours themselves fab, but they're packed in statement bottles that more than justify the price tag. The polish formula itself is really quite thin, but still pigmented, allowing you to build up the colour gradually in 2-3 coats without overloading the nail and causing air bubbles. The thinness of the polish also prevents the horrndous peeling effect you sometimes get with thicker nail varnishes; I've been wearing each shade for about three days before I need to replace it, the problem being more the wearing away of the colour rather than chipping or flaking. At £15.50 each, these are definitely a little payday indulgence that you'll get a lot of use out of; cheaper than a Chanel polish (which doesn't look as pretty and chips after thirty minutes,) you can grab a little bit of luxury without breaking the bank. What do you think of the collection?

The Michael Kors nail varnish collection is available online priced £15.50. However, some of the shades are currently available from Escentual.com priced £12.00 each.
