There's a simple way you can identify any blogger or social media addict in a restaurant: they're the ones positioning their food perfectly, taking a photo and adding a filter before they can even consider taking a bite. Sharing beautiful visual representations of our lives has become the norm, as has making even the most dull of images look like a fabulous photo - thanks to the likes of Instagram filters and editing tools. However, with an abundance of apps now available and a demand for even more engaging images, where do we turn to for the most useful platforms? Well, you lucky things, I've picked out my current five favourite photography apps just for you...
1. Moldiv
If you want to share multiple angles of the same thing, or create a collage without leaving your iPhone, then Moldiv is a great tool to have to hand. The app includes pages of collage layouts, as well as frames and cut-outs to ensure your images look as creative as possible. I love this for when I want to show three things simultaneously but don't want to spam my timeline - perfect for fashion week or product launch events. You can even create your own magazine covers, which are perfect for sending to friends and family.
2. A Beautiful Mess
Perfect for adding a touch of 'doodling' to images, or even creating text-based imagery, this app from the blog of the same name can add a kitsch feel. I love it for creating 'notes' which I want to share across my channels, that are too long to share in a tweet or status update, as well as adding a floral or heart detail to pictures I want to make look pretty.
3. Afterlight
If you want to seriously edit your photos, playing with the tones/colours/sharpness/exposure, then this is the perfect app for you. It contains so many editing functions that you don't get on Instagram, providing much more control and allowing you to experiment. You can even add light flares and old-school film effects, helping to age your photos and make them look truly unique.
4. Flipagram
A great visual 'summary' tool, Flipagram makes the most of the Instagram video functionality by linking multiple images together to create a video. Once you've added a soundtrack the little Flipagrams become a great way of showcasing lots of visual information in a simple and compact way - perfect for showing 'how to' guides, tutorials and stages in a look.
5. Tunepics
If you like your images with a little bit of music, then Tunepics is a great way to ensure the best of both worlds. Upload your image and pick any song from the iTunes library, bringing a little more atmosphere to the party. Illustrate a great party pic with a dance tune, a sad day with a bit of soul or even an inspirational quote with a bit of Britney... Share it instantly to your social networks too!
