As the weather gets a little warmer, our skin soaks up the sunshine and we start to leave the jackets at home, it's important to ensure our makeup gets a shake-up just as much as our wardrobe. Colder months tend to bring a more hard-wearing and thick approach to foundation, helping to cover dull skin and conceal imperfections. However, the best thing about summer is that our skin naturally starts to look a little more glowing; we don't need heavy bases or super thick formulas to help us out, but can start to use lighter formulations which add a touch of radiance instead. BB Creams, CC Creams, light coverage foundations and even tinted moisturisers are a perfect option - but these are the three I'll be reaching for all season long.

1. Bioderma Anti-Redness BB Cream (£14.50)
French pharmacy brand Bioderma have had such a rapturous reception since launching in the UK - and it's no surprise. They're affordable, effective and add tonnes of benefits into every product. Their new BB cream not only provides great coverage and lifts the skin to give it a touch of radiance, but includes special anti-redness technology to prevent the dilation of small blood vessels and calm redness at its source. It helps to soothe irritation, promote hydration and even includes SPF30 to protect against sun damage. Although the 'light' shade is actually quite dark, it's perfect for getting a radiant glow that's also a little bit sunkissed.
2. Sleek Bare Skin Foundation (£8.99)
So many foundations claim to give a 'naked' feel and provide a 'barely there' result, but Sleek have really nailed it with their newest foundation launch. It helps to even out your complexion and provide a touch of radiance, but can also be built up for thicker coverage and a more intense result. Even with a couple of layers it doesn't feel heavy at all, providing a slightly dewy finish that's great for summer when you don't want to look or feel too cakey - skin really can breathe. This is my favourite foundation of late, not only because of the finish, but because there are so many shades to choose from; even for my pale skin there were six different options to ensure a perfect match.
3. Face D 3-Luronics CC Cream (£19.99)
I've mentioned this before, but suffice to say I'm still using it day in and day out. The intelligent pigments within this formula instantly correct red blotches, dull skin and imperfections, while hyaluronic acid provides anti-ageing and moisturising skin care benefits simulatanously. Special peptides stimulate collagen and elastin production, giving skin an anti-ageing 'work out', while the inclusion of SPF20 ensures skin is well protected while out and about. I love the look this gives my skin - almost my natural skintone but better. You need a really small amount and can buff it into skin to leave a complexion that needs little else; a touch of blush and you're good to go.
What lighter bases will you be using this summertime?
