Having fantastic brushes to apply your makeup with not only helps make the process more pleasurable, but it helps to create a more flawless finish. I've recently started to experiment more with brushes, using different types and bristle lengths to see what result I can get on my skin, and So Eco are a new brand that have been helping me on that journey. Not to be confused with Eco Tools (although they do look and feel very similar,) they offer a range of makeup tools that are ethically sourced, cruelty free, fully bio-degradable and totally affordable.

Each brush comes with a sustainably sourced and stylish bamboo handle, which is also chosen for its leightweight nature and comfortable grip. The cruelty-free bristles are tinted to allow you to see the amount of product on the brush, minimising both wastage and mess. Suitable for both liquid and powder cosmetics, ensuring they can be used for various different application techniques and products, each brush also includes a recycled aluminium ferrules. Even the packaging is recycled and bio-degradable, ensuring everything about the range is eco friendly.
I was historically one of those people that believed being eco meant compromising on quality and performance, but these fab brushes totally buck the trend. The foundation brush is comparable to a 'designer' brand within my collection that cost twice as much, while the blush brush is incredibly soft and perfect for applying just a touch of colour. The super light finishing brush has replaced much bulkier and firm brushes for applying a final touch of powder over my base, securing it in place without applying too much and creating a heavy look and feel.
My favourite of the collection though is definitely the super bulky but delicious bronzer brush. All though it's a pain to store (and totally doesn't fit in any of my brush holders,) it's so unique and fun that I continually reach for it to buff a little colour in place. It works psychologically to stop you overloading the brush or your face with bronzer, reminding you not to be heavy handed and to just gently swipe the brush across your skin. It's perfect for applying a touch of colour to the decollatage, shoulders and even limbs; you can even use it around the wrist to buff in fake tan to ensure you don't get an obvious orange line.
Although other brands are a little more luxurious and add a touch of colour to our collections (Real Techniques, I'm looking at you!) So Eco are a great way to expand your brush reportoire without breaking the bank - prices start at £5.00 for eyeshadow brushes, with the giant bronzing brush being the most expensive at £13.50. What's even better is that you can grab them when you're popping into the supermarket for a bag of salad and a bottle of wine!
