Under The Radar: Benefit Skincare (Plus New Additions)

Although Benefit are well known for their innovative makeup formulas and fun packaging, their skincare range is definitely a lot more serious. It may be under the radar and often overlooked, but there are some real gems within the expansive range of products. The face wash, polish, toner and eye cream are all very lovely, but these four products are my pick of the bunch - especially the two new additions that make maintaining a healthy looking and glowing complexion a doddle.

The new 'Instant Comeback' facial serum (£36.00) is super light and totally transparent, making it a dream to apply under makeup. It instantly smooths and energises skin, helping to protect against the visible signs of ageing over time. It's not at all heavy or greasy, making it the perfect introductory serum for those of you still dabbling in deeper skincare; it's fab to use every day, especially when you also want to use a moisturiser and SPF too.

Talking of which, Benefit have added 'Dream Screen' (£25.00) to their portfolio which offers SPF45 protection in an incredibly lightweight formula that absorbs in seconds. The texture is almost like water, as well as being oil and fragrance free, ensuring it's great when you don't want to overload the skin. It does have a tendency to separate, so you do need to shake it before squirting it onto your hand, but when applied to skin it absorbs to leave it feeling soft to the touch. The velvety finish is also a great base for makeup, meaning you can get away with not using a primer.

Layering products under makeup may make great skincare sense, but practically they can cause foundation to slip and your base to feel heavy on the surface. The Triple Performing Facial Emulsion (£21.50) is incredibly light, meaning moisturising in the morning is finally problem free. Not only does it help to protect and hydrate skin, but it comforts and soothes skin with an oil-free formula that also contains SPF15. It's light enough to wear in addition to the serum and SPF, all three combining to offer everything you need within a skincare routine and more.

Finally, the super thick Total Moisture Facial Cream (£28.50) provides concentrated immediate and long-term hydration for a radiant and refreshed complexion. Benefit's tri-radiance complex helps develop the skin's reserves of water and reinforce the moisture barrier, ensuring skin is plump and full of nutrients. It contains mango butter (giving it a delightful scent) and leaves skin feeling instantly nourished. Although it's a little heavy for me to use under makeup, it's a great product to wear on non-makeup days or applied when you're watching telly before bed.

The entire range is packaged beautifully, making these a fab bathroom shelf addition. They're not cheap as chips, but they're affordably priced for a decent quantity of product that really works. If you're already a fan of Benefit, then I've no doubt that you'll love some of the skincare products on offer - especially as they'll help your makeup perform even better and keep your complexion looking tip top for longer.
