Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes: A Quick, Easy & Sweet Smelling Solution

Keeping your makeup tools in tip top condition ensures your application is flawless, as well as helping to avoid breakouts. Every time you use a brush to apply foundation to the skin, eyeshadow to the eyes or highlighter to the cheeks, you transfer not only pigment but bacteria that breeds within these cosy warm environments. Cleaning your brushes regualrly will minimise the risk of spots popping up, as well as helping to create the makeup look you desire. Although it can be quite time consuming and messy, getting into a regular ritual will ensure great performance from your tools. I've always used a little bottle of brush shampoo to cleanse my brushes one by one, getting into a bit of a mess and taking upwards of an hour to complete my entire collection - however, this new little find has helped reduce not only the mess I create, but cut down the process to all of ten minutes. It's a brush cleansing miracle!

This solid makeup brush shampoo from 'Clean' is made with the highest quality ingredients, including goats milk. It works beautifully on both natural and synthetic hair brushes to leave them feeling clean, with no heavy residue left on the surface. Although it doesn't come in the most pretty of packs or have the most sophisticated of labels, it's what's inside that counts - an absolute gem of a product that every makeup enthusiast needs.

To use the solid shampoo you simply wet the surface, wet the brush you want to clean and 'swoosh' it around the top of the shampoo in circular motions. The shampoo instantly lifts up makeup, dirt and grime that's hiding under the surface, leaving every brush looking as good as new in seconds. You simply rinse the brush and leave it to dry, moving on to the next and continuing the swooshing circular motions.

It's so quick and easy, minimising mess (as the makeup residue is left on the surface of the shampoo to be washed away, rather than all over your sink,) and saving your hands from uncomfortable chaffing... I for one hated the regular cleansing sessions I used to embark on, as I'd swish the brushes in the palm of my hand which left it numb and red. This solution removes all the faff and ensures it takes only minutes to cleanse your entire collection.

The solid brush shampoos are available in four scents (including grapefruit, lemon, rose and lavender,) as well as a natural unscented version. This rose variant adds just a touch of scent to the process, while helping to leave your brushes feeling fresh and ready to use. Although these are more costly than a little bottle of brush shampoo (£11.95 for a 2oz pot,) they're 100% worth it if you want to keep your brush collection looking, feeling and smelling fresh.
