I remember the scented polish trend from the first time around (showing my age,) but perfumed talons are definitely hot for 2014. Models Own already have an existing collection of fragranced nail polishes, but there are two new additions to their Fruit Pastel repertoire in the form of Peach Melba and Coconut Cream. These on-trend shades are great for the forthcoming summer days, keeping things simple via a bright white and delicate orange shade that are probably the most wearable hues of the season. Although they look great, the important selling point is their added fragrance - does the polish really smell like coconuts?

The wet polish itself smells like you'd expect, but after the varnish dries on the nail it does provide a subtle lingering scent. Coconut Cream is the more powerful of the two, offering a delicate hint of Pina Colada that covers up the usual stringent scent of the polish; Peach Melba is a lot more subtle, providing an almost indistinguishable fragrance that gets lots very quickly. However, the colour of the orange is worth a cheeky purchase alone, working with pale complexions to add a hint of pastel colour without being sickly sweet.
These are great in their own right, but it's the accompanying new HyperGel topcoat that's got me excited. Designed to turn any polish into a Models Own HyperGel, the thick formula applies to nails perfectly thanks to the wide brush. It glides over each nail bed in one stroke, leaving a slightly thicker transparent film than you'd expect from other topcoats. When it dries it doesn't cause nails to feel thick or 'fake', but just provides a hint of protection that helps nails last a little longer. Although it's no miracle treatment, it's definitely worth a go considering it's only a fiver!
