L'Occitane Goes Brazillian: Introducing The Jenipapo Collection

French skincare and luxurious body products don't just appeal to the European lady - they're also greatly desired by women all the way over in South America, who unsurprisingly associate the shores of France with glamour and elegance. L'Occitane opened its doors in Brazil a number of years ago, but costly import duties and issues with ingredients caused their prices to be pushed up so far they're on-par with Creme de la Mer! In order to counteract this issue and ensure L'Occitane products remained affordable and accessible to all, they decided to develop a locally sourced sub-brand that ensured every ingredient was sustainable. The result is 'L’Occitane au Brésil', which celebrates Brazilian biodiversity with a carefully picked collection of beauty products; it's "the result of a partnership that brings together local culture with L’Occitane knowledge of nature."

The Jenipapo collection consists of a shower oil, body lotion, roller-ball fragrance, face protecting SPF and jelly milk SPF - everything a Brazilian woman needs to keep herself looking and smelling great, whilst ensuring she's protected from the tropical sun. L'Occitane are bringing these capsule items to the UK for a limited time only, perfectly timed for the interest in Brazil due to some kind of football event this summer. (Wink wink.) I find it fascinating how a brand can change so much from country to country, as well as the variation in need and use. Due to the heat in Brazil, women shower multiple times a day so don't use perfume or rely on heavily scented products; instead they love oils, light lotions, colognes and oil-based scents that they can top up as they go. These products really are their essentials.

The shower oil and body lotion are incredibly light, being absorbed into the skin within seconds - especially on a hot day! The body jelly and facial veil SPF products are also incredibly lightweight, sinking into skin to leave it feeling hydrated and protected, without any greasy residue or heavy sensation on the skin - as well as being stylish and small enough to pop into your handbag to re-apply on the go. I adore the unusual little circular bottle; it's definitely a great way of ensuring you take your SPF out with you every day and keep yourself protected.

Staying true to its routes, the entire Jenipapo range is formulated with the scent of the Jenipapo Tree: "The golden flowers of the jenipapo tree brighten the Cerrado landscape and fill the air with a floral-fruity fragrance. The Cerrado region, found in the heart of Brazil where three rivers meet, is embellished with leafy trees, sweet fruits, lively fauna and colorful sunsets." Combined with high notes of watermelon, pina colada and citrus (which beautifully complement the heart of jenipapo,) the result is refreshing and uplifting. It definitely evokes a tropical sensation that leaves me wanting to sip on a cocktail and start shaking my booty. If you're a fan of L'Occitane, then I'd advised hot footing it down to your local boutique or spending some pennies online ASAP - this range won't be staying around for long and is perfect for the summer months.
