There's no doubt that pastel shades and muted hues are all over the high streets this season, bringing a touch of femininity to even the most structured of styles. However, if you're a fan of colour and can't quite face applying baby blue eyeshadow, then there's a new brand hitting the scene that may just be for you. Flashmob Cosmetics are bringing colour back with a bang, without it being completely unwearable. The range includes nail art sets, neon cosmetic filled cases and sets of bright lipsticks, lipglosses, liquid eyeliners and eyeshadows - all in bright and bold shades designed to make a statement. Perfect for those that like to have fun with their makeup, or young daughters who are just starting to experiment, the collections are affordable while ensuring a more subtle finish than first expected.
Although there are nail art collections and bumper cases available, for me the three stand-out products are the lipsticks, eyeliners and lipglosses. All packaged in boxes of four (which cost only £10.00 each,) you get a blue, purple, pink and yellow/orange shade in the product of your choice. The lipstick provides a smooth finish and a strong pigment result, making these not for the fainthearted - although the pink and purple are quite wearable, the blue shade in particular is reminiscent of Katy Perry or Rihanna's stage style. The purple is extremely subtle and the most practical of the collection, providing a hint of colour that can be brought to life with a great gloss.
The eyeliners are quite runny and watery, but they dry to leave a relatively strong colour. Containing a hint of shimmer, the blue and the purple would look incredible along the lash line as part of a minimal makeup look. I was quite impressed by the result, a matte and long-lasting finish that doesn't flake or smudge - great considering they're only £2.50 each! The lipglosses are also lots of fun, providing a wearable tinted gloss with just a touch of glitter; I was expecting much more colour, but in fact they're more of a colour topcoat that enhances the shade of lips or lipstick underneath. Packaged in cute little tubes that are perfectly sized for your handbag or pocket, they contain a foam precision applicator to make application easy on the go.
Although I wouldn't normally be one to champion bright blue lipstick, yellow eyeliner and glittery gloss, there's something about this range that just makes me smile. It's a fab gift for a teenager just discovering makeup, a great treat for any little girl that loves to play with lipgloss and even a little indulgence for a grown woman with a thing for bright yellow lips. At £10.00 for a pack of four, you can't really go wrong - although the products do smell a little 'plastic' and the packs are inevitably a little cheap, for £2.50 each you can't go wrong. Flashmob Cosmetics are sure to be all over the pages of teen magazines for the foreseeable future!
