My Top 5 Spring Nail Colours

Although we may still be waiting for the indefinite blue skies to appear, the weather is getting a little warmer and the tights are being left at the back of the drawer a little more often. There's nothing that marks the movement in season more than the colours that adorn my nails; there's something about a hint of sun that leaves me wanting pastel hues and cheeky corals on my digits. After trying endless polishes and putting them to the 'repeat application' test, these five are definitely the ones I'll be turning to the most this summer.

1. Sally Hansen 'Mojito' (£6.99)
Launched just in time for spring and inspired by the catwalk trends, this delicate shade of green makes a statement. I love the subtlety of the colour that makes a shade of green truly wearable for the first time, whilst still being a talking point when you're in the pub. The Sally Hansen nail polishes are some of my favourites, providing great application and long-lasting results; they remain chip-free for a good few days, making them perfect for holidays or mini breaks away.

2. Liz Earle 'Bright & Breezy' (£7.50)
Surprisingly effective and affordable, the Liz Earle nail polish range deserves more credit than it's given. The formulas are thick enough to provide a great colour finish and powerful shine, while this pale coral shade is great for bringing out a natural tan. It coaxes you into the warmer months without going neon, providing a hit of colour that is universal enough to be worn both to the beach and the bar.

3. Rimmel Salon Pro 'Reggae Splash' (£4.49)
Another firm favourite of mine, this orange shade is practically nude when applied to the nails. It offers just a dash of colour while covering imperfections, as well as helping to elongate the look of nails. This was my go-to shade last Summer and will no doubt be the same this year; even better is the inclusion of Lycra to ensure the colour doesn't chip thirty seconds after applying it.

4. Rimmel 60 Seconds 'Pillow Talk' (£3.69)
Rita Ora seriously knows what's on-trend this Spring, launching this pastel blue shade that looks fabulous when worn with this season's pastel hues. I would normally stay away from blue colours, but this is an ice-cold shade that looks like it's been mixed with white - it's incredibly wearable and matches practically anything within your festival wardrobe.

5. Illamasqua 'Trilliant' (£15.00)
Although this is technically a topcoat, it's equally great when worn alone or as a statement nail. I love wearing this with white nails, creating a subtle nail art effect or even applying just on my ring fingers. It provides a delicate touch of shimmery pink without being Barbie bubblegum, great for when you want something with a little more impact and don't want to turn to a traditional pink.
