Adult acne is a serious issue. Not only can it impact the way we perceive ourselves, but have a significant impact on our confidence and relationship with others. Although it can be embarrassing tackling pimples when we're way out of our teenage years and positively into 'mortgage' territory, it's nothing to be ashamed of: it effects one in five women aged 25-40. Our chemists and supermarkets are jammed full of products claiming to provide better skin, reduce the appearance of blackheads, treat pimples and much more, but most of them are no more effective than a basic cleansing balm. However, I recently had the opportunity to get to know the scientists and developers behind Face B4 - a new approach to tackling the bacteria that causes our skin to break out. Face B4's 'Daily Cleansing Foam' is clinically proven to be the UK’s most effective anti-bacterial facewash, but does that make it a crazy harsh formula? Not so...
Tested independantly against all of the leading brands (including Clearasil, Oxy, Proactiv, Neutrogena and Clean & Clear,) Face B4 consistently performed head and shoulders above the rest at tackling bacteria. Their unique dual-action blending system (where both a cleanser and toner are dispensed at once from two independant tubes,) contains a patented complex that includes Salicylic Acid to helps to remove impurities. During a Q&A session with the guys behind the brand, they were able to explain that Face B4 tackles bacteria by simply killing it and replenishing the skin with all the nutrients it needs to flourish.
The dermatologically tested formula is safe to use on all skin types, as well as helping to clean pores and reduce excess oil. Although it has a slightly medicinal scent, the face wash is incredibly light and leaves no tightness of stinging sensation on the skin. The accompanying serum (which can be used in addition to replenish skin, or alone as a great all-in-one skin moisturiser,) is light and absorbs quickly into the skin's surface to leave it looking and feeling great. I really expected these products to feature hard core formulas that left my skin feeling tight and dry, but they're easy to use and can even be used by those of us that just have the odd hormonal pimple.
This is very much a 'system' to help improve your skin over a period of 4-6 weeks, so it's essential that the face wash and accompanying serum is used daily for best results. Although I'm fortunate enough to have pretty clear skin, the occasional spot does pop up - leaving me in need of regular use of this within my routine. I can't comment on how strongly this performs on serious skin conditions and massive breakouts, but the science can only talk for itself. Face B4 has been thoroughly tested by independent laboratories and can claim to be the UK's most effective anti-bacterial face wash - that's hard to argue with.
