As I get older I'm becoming obsessed with designer purchases. Not because I'm frivolous or because I want to walk around like Paris Hilton, but because I'm finally realising buying cheap and cheerful only lasts one season and costs more in the long run. When I was a fresh graduate I loved nothing more than buying everything from New Look and Miss Selfridge, but those handbags and sunglasses didn't last very long at all. After a season they started to look tatty and needed replacing, or bits and bobs would have just completely fallen off. By investing in something that costs a little more, I've quickly learned that I not only treasure it and take care of it, but that it's also going to stay within my fashion reportoire for years to come. When in Paris on a recent weekend break, I started trying on Prada sunglasses basically to pass the time; but once they were on my face and I looked in the mirror to see a little Audrey Hepburn, I was never going to leave without them....
A classic black pair of elegant sunglasses can become a timeless edition to your wardrobe. There's something about a sleek shift dress and a dark pair of sunnies that makes you feel like you could take on the world. These Prada beauties make me feel like a million dollars and I know I'll treasure them for years to come - they simply won't ever go out of style. I love the delicate 'cats eye' frame and the fact they don't scream designer, as well as how they make any basic outfit instantly feel glamorous. Originally I was going for a brown version of these glasses with tortoiseshell arms, but I was talked into replacing them with this simple black design which will keep me looking glam for years to come. Although these set me back €210.00 (about £174.00,) I know that I won't spend that amount on ten pairs of sunglasses that I'll break or chuck away after a single season. Sometimes it's worth spending the money you've worked hard for on something you'll be able to take pleasure in for years to come.
My Prada sunglasses cost me €210.00 from a Parisian department store, but you can get similar ones here for £190.00. The same version with brown detailing are also available here priced £215.00.
