How You Wear It: Cat Eye Flicks

If there's one makeup look I'd love to be able to perfect, then it's the timeless 'cat eye' flick that adds a touch of glamour to any face. Seen on many a fashion blogger, (including Carrie from WishWishWish.net and Olivia from WhatOliviaDid.com) it seems a little black eyeliner can go a long way in helping a subtle fashion statement look polished. Although this may look hard to achieve, it's all about how you build up the eyeliner from the lashline out. Charlotte Tilbury has a fab makeup tutorial video on her website, but why not take inspiration from these four lovely readers and their very own interpretation?

Kerry from @loveyourstrulyx is the queen of the flick, seen rocking the look daily on her blog. I love how effortless her eye makeup is, with nothing other than a strong brow being required. The benefit of a strong cat's eye is that it's all you need to make you look like you've spent an age slaving over your makeup, when it's just taken you a few minutes to perfect your flick and run out the door. Kerry also shows how easy it is to wear this during the day, matching her 1960's inspired makeup with a cosy jumper and wool coat.

If you want a super subtle cat's eye, then @rubycadillac shows us how to tone it down. Simply start the eyeliner from further away, colouring only two thirds of the eyelid; this will brighten and open the eye too - perfect for days when you're feeling a little sleepy. However, if you're up for something a little more bold why not take inspiration from @kittycat1492 and draw a bold black line on the base of the lashes too? Joining up the bottom and lower lash line will help to make a statement and frame the eye.

When feeling extra vampy, why not take your cat's eye up a notch and pair it with a smokey eye like @AndrewJamesBlog? Andrew shows us that a cats eye doesn't have to be vintage, when the flick is taken out further to the side and complimented with a fair of powerful false lashes. Although his fabulous blue hair isn't for everyone, this is a look that totally is.

Do you love a little statement plait amongst your flowing locks, or are you a fan of Heidi? Show me how you rock the look that's been all over the pages of fashion magazines.
