NEW From The Body Shop: Hair Chalks (Bright Temporary Colour)

Hair chalks seem to be the launch of choice for brands in 2014. First we had L'Oreal's bright and bold versions, and now The Body Shop are adding to their ever expanding repertoire with the launch of these limited edition chalks in pink and blue. If you're not familiar with Hair Chalks, then the premise is simple: they're effectively temporary colour for hair that you brush on and wash out when you're done. Unlike previous temporary hair colours, there's no mess and no fuss as the formula is similar in texture to a chalk; the little pans make the shades easy to apply to hair and ensure that the result is targeted. They provide the perfect way of achieving on-trend hair, without having to take the plunge into permanent hair dye.

The Body Shop's version is super handy, as the little pots fit in the palm of your hand and can easily be brushed through the lower strands of hair multiple times until you get the result you want. Although the chalk has a tendency to flake (like chalk does,) the mess is minimal and can be either wiped away or brushed up in seconds. The colours show up much more easily on blonde hair, but the result is still great even on dark hair - just a little more subtle. To fix the colour in place, just add a spritz of hairspray and you're done. To remove the colour, just wash with shampoo as normal and it will easily separate from the hair. I love these little pans of colour as they provide something fun and temporary for those of us that couldn't turn up to work with pink dip-dye hair; they enable everyone to test the bright hair trend, without dedicating the next three months of their lives to the blue side. What's even better is these are only a fiver each, making them fun and affordable.
