COMPETITION: Dove Men+Care

We talk about a lot of fluffy, pretty, feminine things on here, but what about the boys? What about hardcore man products for your boyfriend/husband/dad/brother/uncle/mate/GBFF? Dove, known for their expertise in hydration and all-round skin goodness, have launched a range of male grooming products that aim to give the man in your life the skin they crave (as well as stopping them from pinching your lotions and potions.) They come in a very butch dark grey shade and even have clear intructions on the front, such as 'post-shave', so the boys don't even need to be fully awake in the morning to use them properly. I would normally use this space to give you the low-down on the concoctions, but alas, there's a problem... I'm not a man. So for one night only, I had over to three of the boys from my office who kindly put forward their faces as guinea pigs and road-tested the latest products from Dove Men+Care...

Kiron: Dove Men+Care Sensitive+ Moisturiser.
As someone that suffers from very dry skin, I'm very specific about the moisturisers that I use on my face; most products end up not being strong enough to keep my skin hydrated and supple. I imagine my skin as the Sahara desert... pour a bit of water on it and it will suck it up and dry out immediately, so to keep it moisturised you need a bucket. As with most other moisturisers I found that this wasn't quite enough to last me the day... however it's a handy size to carry around and 'top up' from time to time, and it absorbs into my skin easily - no stickiness or greasiness. It does smell nicer than your basic industrial strength cream too. I'd continue to use it if there was a 'very dry skin' option.

Dan: Dove Men+Care Post Shave Balm
I have rather sensitive skin, so a solid skincare routine is a must, especially when it comes to shaving. If I don't exfoliate and use some sort of moisturiser or balm post shave, I'll pay the price by looking like a teenage boy for a week! The problem I have with a lot of balms is they leave my skin feeling greasy. The Dove Men Care balm however is really light, and suits my skin very well. In the few weeks I've been using it, it's been great for calming down my skin post-shave, and even helped keep my skin hydrated for the rest of the day after using it in the morning. Which, in the end, is all you can ask for from a product like this!

Chris: Dove Men+CareFace Wash
I'm not a lad, but I am a guy. And as a guy I don't feel alone in only really using a few bare products for my face. If I'm shaving, it gets all the love but other times, a good soap will do. Trying out Dove Men Care face wash I wasn't exactly buzzing. Face wash for guys was the biggest of deals when you were a teen dealing with spots, but since then it's never appealed like a simple moisturiser does. Why would I need both products to keep my skin from drying? As a product, it is absolutely fine. It cleans my face (I assume) and doesn't smell all that sh*tty. I am happy to report it doesn't make my face feel greasy but I am yet to see any long term results.

So basically, the man products were really quite ok. For the price point (between £3.49 and £8.99) you probably won't get better performing lotions and potions; plus they look all manly and such on your shelf. If you want a special guy in your life to look buffed, smooth and hot (possibly like the guy above - although I can't guarantee *cough* those results) then I've got a complete set of Dove Men+Care to give away, plus a box of chocolates and a luxury hand-poured candle for you to enjoy too. All you have to do is leave me a comment below with an email/twitter handle and I'll surprise one of you with something special.
