When she appeared on our TV's for the first time, I'm not sure Alexa Chung had any idea of the scale of a fashion and beauty icon she would become. If there's one thing the TV presenter-come-model and journalist is famous for, aside from her quirky style and pretty face, it's her lustrous locks. From popularising the ombre dip dye to bringing back the bob and becoming the face of Inoa Professional in-salon hair colour, I'm take a look back over Alexa Chung's flawless hair style.
The Fringe: Over the years Alexa's fringe has very much defined her hair style. Though she often opts for a messy curtain style, she has been known to go for a blunt fringe from a centre parting or occasionally a sweeping side fringe. 'Bangs' as they're sometimes known, are said to be a great way to make you look younger, as well as softening hard features.
The Bob: Whether it's a classic bob with a modern twist or the somewhat shaggy style she's become synonymous with, Alexa has single handedly brought the bob back from the 60's. There's a bit of leeway in the length of the bob, as it needn't be as short as you might expect. Whether you opt for the classic chin length or go for something a little longer, ask your hairdresser to cut you a classic bob, but make sure they chop into the layers a lot for that messy style. When styling, use a pair of curling tongs to curl random strands for a full on 'messy' look.
The Ombre: Everyone on the celebrity scene seemed to rock the ombre dip dye over the summer months, and it's a trend that won't be disappearing in a hurry (I must admit, I'm pretty pleased about that.) As we leave Summer behind it's a trend worth trying for the Autumn months, especially as it needs little to no maintenance and there are no roots to touch up! It's also super easy to do at home too, helping you save the pennies.
The Updo: Alexa has often been an advocate of the up-do, choosing to bundle her hair on the back of her head to help accentuate her face structure and high cheek bones. An up-do is perfect for everything from a day in the office to a date with the girls, especially if you've a heart shaped face or striking features. A subtle plait or a handful or kirby grips are all you need to re-create the Alexa look in your bedroom. Remember: the messier the better, so pull out a few strands of hair once you're finished for extra impact.
Want to get the ultimate Alexa do? Part your hair wherever it falls naturally, and pull it into the position of a low ponytail, leaving some hair free at the front. Separate the ponytail into four sections (or six if your hair is fairly thick). Twist each section at a time and pin in place for an effortless style. You can either straighten the parts that fall naturally away from the back of your head, or add some gentle waves for a full Alexa imitation.
So which Alexa Chung look do you fancy? Will you be going for a restyle when Autumn rolls around?
