Bare Minerals launch customisable 'Get Started' mineral makeup kits

Bare Minerals is probably the most well known mineral cosmetics company in the UK. They have a wide range of makeup, including everything from foundations to lipsticks, and can be found in department stores and stand-alone stores across the country. Bare Minerals has been my favourite foundation for a long time; I love it because it doesn't slide off my face in the warm weather like liquids do, can be built up to the coverage you want and most importantly, when applied well, it looks like you aren't wearing any make up at all. It's also great for all ages as it doesn't seem to settle into any fine lines: I've used Bare Minerals on my mum (who is a total foundation-phobe) and even she likes the subtle finish.

For a long time Bare Minerals have offered Get Started kits, which offer the perfect introduction to the brand and the unique texture that a mineral foundation brings. They historically contained a foundation, Mineral Veil powder, ‘Warmth’ powder (like a bronzer), Prime Time face primer and three brushes (two larger ones for the face and a concealer brush). These kits were available in three shades (light, medium and dark,) but whilst they provided great value for money, only having a few shade options was a bit of a shame: especially if (like me) your pale complexion left even the lightest kit too dark to use.

Bare Minerals have now come up with a solution to this. In their flagship stores and online, you can now buy a customisable Get Started kit. The other products are all still the same, but rather than being pre-filled with either a light, medium or dark foundation shade, you’re coloured matched and your perfect shade is added to the kit. There are over 20 different shades to choose from, so whatever end of the spectrum you are, there’s a colour to match. The customisable kits cost £50 and include contents worth up to £121, so it's definitely worth investing in one if you're new to the concept of mineral makeup. As well as the powders and brushes, there’s also an instruction DVD to help you get to grips with the application technique - making the whole process even easier. This is a perfect way to get introduced to the brand and will last you a long time. I’ve only just run out of my foundation which I use daily, and I bought my pot just under a year ago!

Have you tried mineral foundation before? Are you a fan of Bare Minerals?
