I enjoy a good facial scrub, but for the most part I don't expect them to do much more than lightly cleanse and smooth the skin: they're only applied for a few minutes at most, then rinsed thoroughly away. However, the Super Facialist by Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Gentle Daily Micro Polish Wash (not easy to say!) from the new Vitamin C+ Brighten range interested me; it contains high performance Pro-Collagen Vitamin C that aims to reveal a vibrant radiant complexion, while retexturising the skin. I had my doubts that this product would deliver its claims - can something that only stays on your face for a few minutes really make much difference to your complexion? And is applying Vitamin C to the skin more effective than just eating lots of fruit? But after trialling the product for four weeks, I've been surprised by the results.

The bright citrus colour of the tube is mimicked in the fresh citrus and liquorice scent of the polish, which is massaged onto damp facial skin once a day (either in the morning or at night.) Exfoliating micro beads are densely packed within the translucent gel, which means a little goes a long way and you only need to use a small amount to ensure a gentle but effective polish from the scrub. I was worried that with the high Vitamin C content this product might sting on my face, but there was no discomfort at all - except for a light reddening of the skin, which is normal with products containing large amounts of this ingredient. As well as Vitamin C, the Daily Micro Polish also contains antioxidants Vitamin E and Ferulic Acid to boost the brightening and protective effects on the skin.
After at first being sceptical that this product would deliver its promises, within 2 weeks of use in the shower in the evening I definitely started to notice changes in my skin. Not only was my face smoother and softer to the touch, but my complexion was overall more even; blemish scars were beginning to fade faster, spots weren't so irritated and healed quicker, plus my skin looked overall more radiant than before. I think it says a lot about this product that I've seen better results and prefer it to acid peels, which are much more expensive and much less effective for me. The fact that it should be used regularly and continually, to see the best results, isn't necessarily a downside as it can so easily be integrated into a daily skincare routine.
Coupled with an anti-blemish regime to treat dull skin and blemishes from breakouts, or an anti-aging regime to improve the skin tone and lighten dark spots, the Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Gentle Daily Micro Polish Wash helps to protect and strengthen the skin while brightening the complexion - this makes it a valuable addition to your usual daily cleanse, and an addition I will be sticking with in the long term.
