Until the launch of Urban Decay's 'Naked' palette in 2010, eyeshadow collections were mostly saved for pro makeup kits and birthday presents for serious beauty junkies; they weren't something we'd rush out to buy or really see much of a need for, instead picking up duos or quads to get our eyeshadow hit. But with the launch of 'Naked' something changed: we started to see this makeup tool as a gateway to experimentation and fun, as a way of being creative with our looks even if we didn't really have the skills. For the first time there was a collection of shades that were all totally wearable and usable, without a rogue pink or green in sight, all packaged up rather deliciously with a slightly raunchy name to boot. This now iconic makeup palette hit just as YouTube tutorials were becoming more mainstream, which provided us with the knowledge and assistance to nail those subtle smokey eyes like never before - it was the kindling we needed to set alight to the beauty industry in a whole new way. Skip forward seven years and Urban Decay has undoubtedly become one of the most popular and cult-like makeup brands globally, thanks mostly to their 'Naked' franchise which just kept makeup addicts coming back from more. We've now got Naked 2, Naked 3, Naked Smoky and Naked Basics, but this summer Naked Heat hits stores and you just *know* there will be queues around the block to nab one before anyone else! But is it worthy of the hype it's already experiencing? Yep!

Designed to open like a matchbox, the card outer holds inside a beautiful quality palette which includes twelve yummy sunset shades that are so much more wearable than you may initially think. When I first caught the preview I thought it wasn't for me, but having had a play of a friend's a few weeks back I was instantly surprised at how stunning and wearable the shades were in reality - they really do look good on anyone. With seven mattes and five shimmer shades, together they provide a beautiful spectrum of colour that's perfect for warm summers nights (but will also take you well into the autumn months with ease. I've definitely fallen into a 'nude hole' of late, always opting for the same understated shades that I don't really have to think about, but these tones have definitely encouraged me to experiment with my makeup again and not always reach for the same shades of taupe. OUNCE
A subtle ivory shimmer that's fab as an inner-corner highlight, or just as a base shade.
Will probably end up being my most used on a daily basis.
CHASER
A light nude matte that's a great lid enhancer, or a shade to use to dial down other tones.
SAUCED
A soft terracotta matte that looks great when worn in the crease or to blend two contrasting shades together.
LOW BLOW
A brown matte that wouldn't look out of place in any other Naked palette - an all-round shade, but more than filler.
LUMBER
A beautiful copper shimmer with gold pearl shift which looks fab in the crease or along the lower lash line. You can also use it over other shades to amplify the metallic sheen if you're feeling fancy.
HE DEVIL
A burnt red matte that I probably thought was the shade least-likely to adorn my eyes, but it actually looks fab buffed around the lid. I'll be pushing myself to use this during the summer for sure.
DIRTY TALK
A metallic burnt red, which is essentially the shimmer version of He Devil. Love it.
SCORCHED
A metallic deep red with gold micro shimmer, this is possibly my fave of the lot. It only gets more beautiful when applied on the eye.
CAYENNE
A deep terracotta matte, this warm shade of brown can be built-up with ease to create a multitude of looks. You can't really go wrong with a touch of this.
EN FUEGO
A burgundy matte, the warmth of this ensures it's totally wearable and looks amazing blended around the eye.
ASHES
A deep reddish-brown matte, this looks great when used wet as a liner around the lash line. If you want to create a really strong look this is a great alternative to a black or grey smokey eye too.
EMBER
A deep metallic copper burgundy, this is a beautiful shade for strong smokey looks - especially during the autumn months. It looks incredible with any eye colour.
As you'd expect with Urban Decay palettes, the quality of the eyeshadow is incomparable: all twelve shades are strongly pigmented, super smooth and easy to blend, as well as having minimal fall-out and serious longevity. I don't really buy into the hype of new launches, but this became a must-have as soon as I had the pleasure of swatching it - the shades are so much more beautiful when applied than in the palette too, so it's definitely one you'll want to play with to discover the full potential. Although many of the shades look a bit scary, I guarantee they're way more wearable than you think and the shades look amazing whether your eyes are blue, green, brown or something inbetween. The hype is more than justified; this is without question the best Naked palette to date.

THREE WAYS TO WEAR NAKED HEAT
1. Add a touch of subtle warmth to the inner corners of your eyes with a shade such as Sauced or Lumbre, blending a lighter shimmery shade upwards and along the lower lash line.
2. Buff your chosen shade (why not try Low Blow or He Devil) all over the lid, taking a small amount under the eye and along the lash line. Add in a slightly darker shade into the crease for a wearable daytime look.
3. Go all out and opt for either Scorched, En Fuego, Ashes or Ember on top of a nude base, buffing it across two thirds of your lid and up to the brow bone. Keep blending for the ultimate smokey sexy look.
