OOTD: The Perfect Jeans For When You've Got Junk In Your Trunk

Up until about a year ago I'd sacked off jeans for good. After spending most of my mid-twenties wearing nothing but jeans and court shoes (that was never a good look) I'd progressed to a point where I felt they were just no longer my style; I felt I'd transitioned into a slightly more polished and classically dressed individual, who no longer wanted to struggle finding the perfect fit - because shopping for jeans when you've got hips and arse is an absolute nightmare. However, a recommendation from my mum led me to my local ASDA (yes really) and I found the perfect fit of jeans for the first time in years. Hoorah! The George Wonderfit jeans are an absolute dream for those of us with junk in our trunk, as they fit beautifully and provide optimum comfort for only £20.00 a pair. So obsessed am I with these supermarket trews that I bought them in every colour and have replaced them three times over; when they're only £20.00 a pair you can get away with it! I've recommended them to quite a few curvy friends and they're in awe too... They really are that good. So now I'm back on the jeans bandwagon, how have I been styling them over these past few spring weeks?

THE LAYERS
After a relentless few months of sticking to a formula of jeans, jumpers and boots, the sunshine and spring feeling is definitely encouraging me to change it up a bit and embrace some slightly lighter layers. I love this khaki top (that I think is actually supposed to be a dress) from Topshop which goes just as well with a leather jacket and pair of pumps than with a strappy sandal and clutch bag. I've actually got it in black and blue too, which says it all; khaki is set to be huge again this season, so I've no doubt it's going to be a staple for yet another year. Paired with my trusty leather jacket (which is starting to look a bit battered, in a good way) and a long black tassel scarf from much-underrated Monki and I'm comfy, cosy and a touch stylish too. When you don't know what the weather is going to do from one hour to the next, it's all about a great load of layers.

THE JEWELS
Nobody told me that when you become engaged none of your jewellery seems to match anymore. I was always a big fan of wearing five different rings at once, as well as wearing enough bracelets to start my own jewellery store - but since having this mega bit of bling on my hand it's all changed. Anything more than a simple watch, bracelet and maybe a subtle ring, and it starts to look all messy. This beautiful statement ring is actually something I inherited from my Great Aunt when she passed last year, giving it more meaning than most of the things I own; I can remember her buying it and me falling in love, so it was the only thing I wanted when clearing her belongings. Miraculously we managed to find it and I think it looks just as good on my hand as it did on her, if I say so myself! I teamed this with another Henry London watch in a fab aubergine shade (perfect if you want something dark but not black,) and my personalised 'Hayley' necklace that was a 21st birthday gift from my Nan. Because channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw never goes out of style.

THE SHOES
Just as I pushed jeans to one side, trainers and plimsolls were never my thing. However, after a chance discovery in Office last summer I actually fell in love with statement trainers as a comfy way to add something on-trend to my look; I've got them in everything from pink velour and leopard print, to glitter and rose gold - and they're my most worn item in my wardrobe. (They're also great for transitioning out of boots, without your toes getting too chilly.) These beautiful grey bow ones are from ASOS and are a bargain at only £25.00; everyone that sees them comments, and you guys went crazy for them when I shared them on Instagram too! I've got them in a bright pink version for spring and I can't wait to style them up; it's amazing the difference a giant bow can make.

THE BAG
I know, I've got a problem. I've always been obsessed with handbags, but as I get older I've realised it's far better to invest (if you can afford to do so) in great quality bags than to constantly be spending on Topshop numbers that barely last the season. I've had my eye on this YSL Tote for ages, as a great 'chuck it in and go about your day' number that would also fit my laptop - but in black. When I walked past the YSL concession in Birmingham's Selfridges I fell in love with this colour and couldn't resist; even my mum was enabling me to hand over my card and take it home! It's the perfect shade that's totally transeasonal; great for winter when the rest of your colour palette is black, but just as handy for summer when you need a subtle tote to go with all those bold and bright dresses. I've got a lot of use out of it already, so I know it will be worth everyone of those six-hundred-and-forty-five pounds.

Jeans aren't the most glamorous of exciting of items to buy or style, but if you struggle to find something to fit over your bum and hips then I can't recommend these enough.
