A few years ago I would have overlooked Clarins as a brand that wasn't really relevant to me. I had a perception that it was all about old school makeup, skincare targeted at my mum and suffered from a severe lack of innovation - but recently I've thrown all that in the air and started afresh. So many great new products have landed on my desk to challenge those preconceptions and prove that Clarins is really moving forward as an in-touch-with-the-needs-of-modern-women brand. From their skincare boosting serums and long lasting creamy foundations, to the delicious lip oils and lip perfectors I can't get enough of, it definitely seems that they're competing with the likes of Bobbi Brown and Clinique once again. This Summer (through to Autumn) there's a huge portfolio of products hitting counters nationwide, and I can confirm you're going to want all of them. If you want hardworking, beautifully crafted and pleasurable makeup that's a joy to apply, let me introduce you to some future favourites...

BB Skin Detox Fluid (£30.00. Available August/September.)
I loved the original BB Cream Clarins launched a couple of years ago, especially as it brought together a creamy and effective formula with genuine skincare benefit. This Autumn they're taking that one step further with the extension of the BB Skin Detox Fluid, which has been designed specially to hydrate and oxygenate the skin. The lightweight but creamy formula contains Acerola Seed (to aid in the proper oxygenation of the skin,) Queen of Meadow extract (to help maintain the skin pH balance) Aloe Vera extract (for comfort and hydration,) hyaluronic acid (to plump the skin) and an exclusive 'anti-pollution complex' to help counteract blemishes and imperfections caused by city living. Available in a multitude of shades (but unfortunately still just for caucasian skin tones,) this formula glides over skin to melt away imperfections and inject a touch of radiance. It's perfect for every day wear, but equally if you're not really into heavy foundations you can build it beautifully for the perfect level of coverage.

Mascara Supra Volume (£21.50. Available August/September.)
Clarins mascaras are definitely industry secrets, because pretty much every formula I've ever tried has been an absolute winner. This volume enhancing mascara is the new incarnation of the 'Wonder Volume' and helps to build the lash line effortlessly, without clumping or overloading. It creates a perfectly fanned out and elongated look that has overtaken my love for some of my long-term budget favourites. Although you're talking over twenty quid for a mascara, it's fab and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Limited Edition Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector (£18.00. Available now.)
Oh Lip Perfector, how many ways can I express my love for thee? These practically cult-like lipglosses have been a firm favourite since they were launched a few years ago, and they're definitely the one product from Clarins even all of my mates are on-board with. Thanks to the timeless combination of a sweet scent, foolproof tube, bright colour, creamy texture and and applicator that minimises waste, these are one of the best selling products in the entire brand range. If you pop over to a counter right now you'll be pleased to see two new summer brights in limited edition packaging, which add a wash of colour over lips without overloading with stickiness. The beautiful orange shade is perfect for the warmer weather and a great alternative to lip stains, which is why it's been in my handbag from the moment I first opened the lid.

Limited Edition Hand & Nail Treatment Creams (£25.00 for three. Available now.)
If you've ever tried the Clarins hand creams before, you'll know they're hardworking and incredibly soothing formulas that leave hands feeling like they've had a serious pampering. They may be a lot more expensive than a tube of E45, but sometimes we deserve a little pampering. This Summer this cult-like skincare find is available in a trio of limited edition scents and corresponding packaging, all wrapped up in a cute little cosmetics purse. Including fig leaf, white tea and orange tree leaf scents, these will definitely put a smile on your face and a spring in your step. If you're the kind of person that likes to sort out your Christmas gifts six months in advance, these would make the perfect present too.

Wet & Dry 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette (£33.00. Available August/September.)
This is definitely the season for reinvention, as Clarins are completely re-launching their entire eyeshadow collection in favour of something more sleek and practical. Gone are the square pans of product in favour of longer and more user-friendly rectangle shapes (which are much easier to pick up product onto a brush from,) and the formula has been enhanced to leave it even creamier and even more pigmented. I'd forgotten how much I liked Clarins eyeshadow formulas until I got to grips with some of these; they're soft and easy to blend, build easily and last all day with ease. My personal favourites include the nudes and greys (surprise, surprise!) but there are also a number of more seasonal colours and unusual shades available for you to play with too. A wise investment and a great alternative to the Urban Decay palettes we know and love so well.

Have any of the new Clarins launches caught your eye? What are you most looking forward to?
