I may be approaching my mid-thirties with greater speed than I would anticipate, there's still something rather irresistible about a novelty lipbalm. I've been coveting and collecting them for as long as I remember, happily slipping a product into my bag that wouldn't be out of place in an eight year old's backpack, because they offer a momentary relapse back into childhood. Makeup and beauty can be so serious sometimes, with expansive science baffling even the most knowledgeable of minds, so occasionally it's nice to pick something up purely because of its adorable packaging and the fact it makes you smile. This is how I feel about these cute, kitsch and smile-worthy Pucker Pops lip balms that I found in Claire's Accessories.
Available in too many different designs to mention, each one features little eyes and accessories that cement the theme or flavour of the lip balm within (below you have watermelon, cupcake and strawberry); the little lolly sticks pull out of the casing to reveal a small amount of product inside, which is both lightweight and sweet. I'm not kidding myself here: there's nothing sophisticated or elegant about these, they're just pure novelty that can attach to a keyring. However, sometimes that's all I want and need; a rest-bite from a long day thinking about the technology behind the newest eye cream or understanding how a bottle of shampoo can transform your hair in under two minutes. These provide just that - and at £3.50 each you can afford to pick up a few to suit your every mood.
The Pucker Pops Lip Balms are available from Claire's, priced £3.50 each.
