Kiko cosmetics aren't ones to sit on their laurels and wait for inspiration to hit them; they're out there on a daily basis coming up with new ideas and curating new collections, knowing their increasingly demanding customer is all about having fun. Described as ‘beauty with a free-spirited soul’, this summer they've launched a new limited-edition collection (are any of the collections *not* limited edition?!) that's simply inspired by a passion for travel. The products have been curated to offer a portfolio of travel companions, helping you achieve a flawless and glowing complexion wherever you are, while the striking and somewhat lustworthy packaging is perfect for on-the-go city break touch-ups. Interestingly, Kiko have partnered with designer Ross Lovegrove to create the collection’s packaging; known for his futuristic and conceptual work, Ross interpreted the collection’s theme to create practically designed products that are perfect to take with you anywhere. Kiko say "he also identifies and decodes the DNA of KIKO: an essence of elegance, sensuality, femininity, breeziness and usefulness." Together the collection offers something ultra-premium in design and quality that's not necessarily season dependant; these are products you'd be happy to slip into your bag for months (and years if you can make them last that long!) to come, knowing they look and feel twice their actual price.
The collection includes a DD Cream, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, lipsticks, lip oils, highlighting balls, baked blushers, fragrance and a makeup bag - all of which offer something a little bit fancy that I'm sure you'll love. Personally I could take or leave the eye products if it weren't for the packaging, but these are the three treats I would definitely recommend checking out...
1. Desert Moon Highlighter (£19.90)
These baked highlighting balls have been created in three different shades, so together they offer a radiant and natural complexion boost. Highlighting and bronzing balls are a little bit old school and retro, but these definitely make them seem like the height of luxury; a light buff with a brush into the baked balls and a gentle sweep over the tops of the cheeks provides an understated glow that I love. What's great about these balls is that they prevent you from using too much, meaning they will last for absolutely ages. The heavyweight pot may not make them hand-luggage friendly, but they do look utterly fabulous and totally chic on your dresser.
2. Heatwave Lip Oil (£10.90)
Enriched with a coconut, vanilla and grapefruit scent, this nourishing lip oil smoothly coats the lips and leaves a glossy finish. The formula is enriched with jojoba oil, shea butter, wild mango butter and vitamin E for moisture and comfort, while the delicate tint helps to boost the natural flush of lips. Lip oils are incredibly on-trend right now, but most are really quite expensive; this not only looks fabulous, but you get an affordable way to experience the hype.
3. Desert Dunes Trip Baked Blush (£16.90)
Available in three different shades, these baked blushers have been created using three individual tones of product. The different colours can be used individually or blended together for a super natural finish; the baked formula ensures an intense and long-lasting result with minimal fall-out, plus it ensures they're even more suited for travel. (The powder is packed in and incredibly stable, meaning it's less likely to smash in transit.) Rather uniquely, the blush is also enriched with jojoba oil and vitamin E to offer skincare benefit at the same time as gliding over skin to provide a colour boost. Pleasantly silky to the touch, these are what Kiko does best.
