Age Perfecting Skincare Made With The 'Herb Of Life': BareMinerals NEW Skin Longevity

There's so much great skincare launching at the moment it's hard to prioritise what's worth talking about and what can wait for a later time - but the huge amount of newness from Bare Minerals is too exciting not to share. Although they're predominately known for their makeup, the skincare offering from Bare Minerals has always been quite expansive; however, over the years it's become a little lacklustre and faded into the background, as other more exciting launches grabbed the attention of their potential customers. After attending the unveiling of their latest skincare portfolio it seems that's simply because they've been working on something groundbreaking and traveling to (almost) the ends of the earth to do so. This spring they're launching a whole new range of cleansers, moisturisers and facial treatments which I'm incredibly excited about - the hero of which is Skin Longevity. Enriched with the power of a plant that's only available on one tiny island, this lightweight serum has the potential to boost your skincare regime and leave you feeling (and looking) younger for longer. That's something we can all relate to, yes?

Rather uniquely, in the creation of this technology Bare Minerals have turned to an area where women thrive and live longer than any other place in the world. Okinawa, an island off the coast of Japan known as the ‘Island of Long Life’, hosts the oldest living female population today; their secret is said to be a mineral and vitamin rich coastal soil herb that local residents boast as an essential part of their enduring wellness. Simply called ‘Long Life Herb’ it flourishes in the island’s harsh climate and is said to extend the life on an individual by a day for every mouthful consumed. Loaded with potassium, sodium, zinc, calcium, magnesium, iron and vitamins A, B2 and B6, 'Long Life Herb' offers better nutritional value than spinach and kale. Wowzer. Bare Minerals have harnessed the power of this incredible herb and infused the Skin Longevity serum with its qualities providing a sensorial experience that offers serious skincare benefit simultaneously.

Skin Longevity offers the benefits of Long Life Herb, alongside California Poppy and Ginger extracts, to infuse the surface of skin with ingredients that help protect against the visible signs of ageing while promoting a healthy looking and radiance appearance. The incredibly lightweight formula is also clinically proven to improve the skin’s overall appearance in as little as four weeks: in a consumer use survey 81% of women felt that the product was empowering their skin to help defend against sings of aging, 91% agreed the product infused their skin with moisture, 77% felt confident that the product will prolong the look of youthful skin, 79% felt that the product improved the look of more youthful skin, and 89% felt it enhanced the healthy look and feel of their skin. I love some stats to back up the facts and these fill me with confidence that this really does do what it promises to; it's also great that the product has been designed to help us to look a little healthier and more radiant, rather than promising to turn back the clock and eradicate those wrinkles completely.

I've been using the serum for only a few days, but already I'm appreciating the lightweight texture and beautiful scent it provides. It leaves the surface feeling smooth and radiant, whilst not interfering with other products; you can use it either as an additional step before your usual serum and moituriser, or as a stand-alone morning or evening treat. We're increasingly seeing the emergence of the Korean 'essence' and 'lotion' trend, as well as pre-serum boosters, and this offers all of those benefits in one. Although I've not been using it for a prolonged enough period to comment on long-term results, my initial impressions are very positive - especially with a price point of £45.00. (Many other treatments with the same level of technology and clinical proof can fetch up to twice that amount, if not more. See it as an investment in your skin!)

Although Skin Longevity is undoubtedly the most exciting launch from Bare Minerals in some time, it's also worth mentioning the new portfolio of cleansers and moisturisers to help ensure skin is left fresh and hydrated too. With four new cleansers to choose from, there’s a formula and texture for every skincare need: Pure Plush Gentle Deep Cleansing foam offers a foaming lightweight yet effective cleanse, Clay Chameleon Transforming Purifying Cleanser melts from a clay into a cream to gently draw out impurities, Blemish Ready Anti-Imperfection Gelee Cleanser offers a beautiful gel texture to dissolve pore-clogging impurities immediately, while Oil Obsessed Total Cleansing Oil glides over skin to rise away makeup after turning into a milky emulsion. Together they'll make you want to wash your face again and again - I've never looked forward to cleansing so much.

Additionally a quartet of moisturisers have been developed to provide hydration and support for every skin type and need; you can either pick the one that works for you, or invest in a portfolio that you can dip in and out of when the need arises. Choose from True Oasis Oil-Free Replenishing Gel Cream, which is a godsend for summer, thanks to is water-fueled cooling consistency that skin drinks up, or the Smart Combination Lightweight Emulsion which is perfect for applying under makeup while helping to leave skin feeling smooth and soft. Bare Haven Moisturising Soft Cream is a one-size-fits-all product that offers up essential moisture and suppleness in one pot, while the Butter Drench Restorative Rich Cream helps to renew overall resilience and radiance - it’s the perfect night cream too. I've been particularly enjoying the gel cream for days when I don't want to overload my skin or impact the performance of my makeup, but the Butter Drench formula is perfect for applying in the evening and letting it treat your skin to a hydration injection.

It's taken such a long time for Bare Minerals to perfect their skincare offering and genuinely provide a line-up of products that we can once again get excited about, but I have to admit it's been worth the wait. The majority of the time I pick and choose one or two products from a range to integrate into my routine, but every single one of these are already in my bathroom with their lids off. If you're looking for affordable, effective, pleasurable and innovative skincare to invest in... I think I've found it.
